Lord fusor or hot staples for me
Never quite managed to master plastic welding
dished area is as good as a groove
There is a reason for the dish.
When you apply a fusor like material to a repair area sometimes it will lift at the edges as you sand.
The reason for this is the repair material heats up at a different rate to the substrate plastic, this is why there is sometimes a lift of the repair material,
The repair material is a lot harder than the bumper, so the two heat up at different rates. The result can sometimes be a separation .
If you dish it enough and dont overfill fill with the bond material you can leave it unsanded for maximum strength and fill the rest of the dished area with a flexible filler witch will sand easier and not lift on the edges.

just melt some pieces of mig wire in to your back side repair with your plastic welder as your welding it.
then weld it on the outside. sand it down , prime it, finished … no filler needed (if the plastic is weldable) :kofee

March 15, 2011 at 3:23 pm #29547I do cracks too. This is on an 06 Accord. I melted wire mesh around the whole thing then used fiberflex then epoxy filler to finish it off. It was a 42in crack.
Attachments:March 15, 2011 at 4:42 pm #29549Yes,I did the work outside. Air temp was in the low to mid 40’s. And, it was a front side repair. The mesh adds a lot of strength. FYI, I use a grease splatter screen instead of buying the “special” screen.
March 15, 2011 at 8:50 pm #29551I do mobile repair for dealerships. So, all of my work is outside. If anyone is curious, I have received an exemption from the 6H ruling.
March 16, 2011 at 12:52 am #29556Keystone had one for 110 but for my customers they want it done yesterday. No time to wait. Besides, I used a lot less paint and had it done in matter of hours not days.
Thanks for your comments.
March 16, 2011 at 1:03 am #29557The hot stapler is coming soon. Just heard yesterday. I have been working on my own. Need to perfect the staples and it should be good to go.
