I’m looking for some help, I was thinking about maybe buying an Iwata SuperNova (WS400 or Hybrid), or the SATA 4000 or maybe possibly even the 3000, but the question is, is there a big difference between the speed of the 3 guns and the final finish which I know everyone is different, etc. I’m looking for very honest opinions and no bias answers either way. I like spraying a little bit on the faster side so I’m looking for something that will take me that route.

    Thank you to all .

Well, I’ve used the 3000RP & HVLP and 4000RP a fair bit, both great guns. The 3000RP is the faster of the 2, however, I prefer the 4000. I’ve only used the Iwata once. It seemed nice and sprayed well, but just didn’t feel “right” to me.

What are you looking to use it for? Just as a clear gun?

I own all of the guns you mentioned, and my favorite of them is the WS, but i would have to say that of that group the 3000 is clearly the fastest. Big difference in speed? I wouldn’t say big, but noticeable.

Yes just for clear,I forgot to state that, I’m looking to get the RP, well if I were to go with SATA

O ok, out of the 3000 and 4000 is the finish quality a big difference?

You really can’t go wrong with either of the Sata’s. And although the 3000 is faster than the 4000, unless you have enough of a feel for painting, you may not notice a huge difference.

I personally prefer the 4000, but it’s all going to come down to your own painting style as any of the guns you mentioned are capable of producing a superb finish when placed in skilled hands.

Ok, thank you. I have one more question, when I first started spraying I used a 1.3 on my Tekna, but then moved up to a 1.4 moved up to a 1.4 because I wanted a bit more speed, with the Sata’s being faster, should I go back to the 1.3? I sprayed well with either size but I also don’t want to go with the 1.4 and have a cheetah in my hand :p

Just depends on the product you are using. You should change the fluid tip size according to the conditions…

I have a 4000 rp 1.3. It’s a nice gun and sprays ok. I wish I would have bought the supernova though. I also have an LPH 400 that I just keep going back to. It is slower than my 4000 but I can still get HS+ to lay down like glass with it. It just suits my spray style better than the rp.

the supernova needs to be tweaked for speed ie cut the fan down or it is a slower gun, sata as always spray wide open out the box ,my preference was for the 1.2 RP although now im using an Optima 900i 1.4 which i do have to choke off to suite my pace

if you go for the supernova make sure you get the latest evolution model as the first ones had some quality issues ie nobs falling off when used with waterbourne solvent cleaners and some other issues
imho value for money out the box performance and low rebuild costs then Walcom guns beat the lot i love my walcom FX HA which is still available although superceded by the Genesi HTE version which is bit more service friendly than the older model ,just like Sata they have matched caps and tips hence not much tweaking required to match the fan to the fluid flow like most one cap fits all set ups

I would make sure before you puchase an RP that it meets the national EPA source laws. Here your supposed to use HVLP for overspray reduction.

I have the sata 3000powerjet 1.4. I’ve used it for 6years. Sadly they are discontinued, since 4000 release.
