Hey guys, will the sata 4000 rp or hvlp work best with envirbase? Because I have ordered a sata 4000 rp and hvlp both 1.3. I want to know if the rp is better for water base or hvlp. Because I want to use the rp for clear and the hvlp for solvent and water.

The HVLP is best for water base and the RP for clear coat hope this helps 😉

I spray Aquabase, which is the exact same product. I would deff use the HVLP with a 1.3, not the RP for base. SATA actually makes a 4000WSB that is specifically for water, it’s a real odd size (like 1.2something). I prefer just a regular 4000HVLP with a 1.3 to the WSB with my painting style. That being said out of every base gun I have used with PPG water I actually like the Tekna Prolite the best. It’s a great base gun and priced way better then the SATAs, I use a 1.3 with the HVLP cap. RP with a 1.3 is the great clear gun though. Some people like the IWATAs because of the huge fan pattern, but the RP lays it out better IMO.

I have used enough hvlp guns to last me a lifetime ,the last one I used was a nr3000 with a 1.4HC (made specific for sikkens autowave) and I hated it.I bought a tekna with a 1.4 and a 7e7 air cap and it sprays waterborne much better than the sata,no comparison IMO.I also have a prolite but prefer the older tekna for WB IMO.Sikkens does recommend a 1.4 for AW anything smaller will be a struggle IMO.I have also used RP’s for waterborne and they work well also, hvlp is out of date compared to low pressure/high efficiency guns.
