    This burns me deeply— The forgotten Decree of 1963 issued by the Dept of Justice states that all auto dealers will discount to all independent repairers to the tune of 25%- This was done to level the playing field back then as dealers were retailing parts and squeezing out independents.

    Does any one else have a problem with this? I just mark up those parts to equate my 25% and tell the Cartel tuff, payit or towit…

    My customer is my vehicle owner, not the Insurance Cartel……

    Being from canada I don’t know if that would apply here. I don’t think the norm here is to get 25% off of retail, usually a floating trade price that varies from part to part. usually we get better discounts from overpopulated manufacturers like GM & Chrysler who all cut-throat each other to get your business, their up around 30-35% in my area. But I agree, 15% doesn’t sound like much.

    25%? I quit selling parts around 2004, and the “standard” discount then was 32% on all domestic lines, 27% on imports. (This would be in the Chicago area).
