We did this last week…or 2 I fixed the damage, sanded the existing acrylic enamel with 320, 2K primed the top surfaces, painted the jambs, then cut the primer flat with 320, and water sanded with 600. Painted over the primer WITHOUT sealer. Nason base, Matrix MS 52 clear. Came out pretty clean, had to clip and buff the LR qtr. Some squiggly press marks. Maybe it was sweat. ?

Why didn’t you pull the doors and the back hatch glass so you could prep it properly and get even coverage?

The customer brought it back. He don’t like the pesky dust nibs. I’m gonna have to buff. Da with 3/32 1500 da wet, then 3000 ttriazac ut wet. Then yellow pad with fine cut, then white pad machine glaze. All day bitch. Does anybody have a buff product that they swear by. I’m going to be rebuffing for funk ever with my procedure and I know it..

Can you get Farecla products where you are at? I have just started using ‘Farecla G3 Extra’ and it’s the ducks guts. It’s a dry compound with minimal sling, and you can use any pad, wool or foam. Otherwise, Menzerna FG500 (Fastgloss) works great too.

You should buff the car before you give it back to the customer. If the car isn’t loaded with dirt(it shouldn’t be with that sweat booth set up) you can just level the nibs and buff. No need to sand the whole car

X2 on Dings comments….Vettes can be nasty, you need to use an anti staic wipe/waterborne cleaner to wipe them down. After it is blown cleaned and tacked I will put ppg DX-103 in a spray gun and mist the car and masking paper to kill static.Check out this tool we got one a few weeks ago….

Looks nice Bill. Working in a homemade booth must really suck…. I only did 1 complete in mine, and had to cut the whole damn car….

3m now allows you to have a 3″ flat, mirror-finished area on a orange-peeled hood!

Bob, my booth is sweet, it my procedure that needs work. I think I have new procedures in place. 6 hours of buffing.. All it takes
