Always 🙂
I tried it out today with a red mica – Fiat 132 – and the base goes on so much better at 30% :rock I thought hiding power would suffer but it didn’t. One full wet coat had it covered. The base also seemed to dry more quickly too, I’m guessing down to the better atomisation / finer droplet size.
I ought to know better by now, always trust the tech sheet rather than what a colleague tells you!

I’m using mixit2. Is there any way of finding a list of current and/or superseding tinters?
Reason I ask is because I’m pretty sure it hasn’t been updated in a while and I seem to have loads of tinters with very similar numbers, and some that I don’t have at all. For example I pulled a colour up today that required 356. I don’t have it so used 355  I also pulled on up that has 350. I don’t have that either but managed to find another mix without it.
I also seem to have masses of pearl / mica ones that I never use so I’m wondering if they are old / new versions of the same. Maybe not, but you never know. I can’t remember the exact numbers off hand but I have some that are 332, 333, and 334, followed by the same letter(s)
Thanks :cheers
February 5, 2013 at 12:34 am #41065I’m sure Ryan will be here to help.I know 973? was replaced with 974 and 356 was replaced with 350 and 355.Not sure about the pearls but I have 332,333,334 versions on my bank pretty sure you need them.
I remember that the sales rep would come in and change the computer…I watched once and it seemed pretty easy. You can add/ remove the toners you need as you use up the old ones and update to the newer ones. Unfortunately I don’t recall how. If you phone your Akzo rep they should be able to explain over the phone.

Mixit 2? Man they need to upgrade you! Do you get updates? Should be 3 a year. If your looking at a color that calls for a toner you don’t have always check the version date. There is a newer version that needs to be picked. They leave the old formulas up in case someone has that toner left. Certain toners have been replaced. I always seemed to get better matches with the 350 and 355. The different toners aren’t drop in replacements, the formulas are different between them.
The number of pearls is normal.
February 5, 2013 at 4:13 pm #41092Thanks Guys.
Because we get the paint repackaged by a smart repair company I don’t think we ever have direct contact with a rep. The database shows as last being updated 03/2011, so very out of date!
I’ll speak to my boss and see what he can sort, although there’s been talk of us moving over to Dupont. Not looking forward to that if it happens from what I’ve heard about it.
February 9, 2013 at 10:00 am #41250Not sure if this will help but sometimes I’ll look up formulas online or try to get new variants
