sikkens recently released a low Voc High build surfacer, has aparently 3x the mil build as CBP250. Anyone else on here try this stuff out yet?
I have found it very slow to be ready to sand without balling up, 3 coats(medium wet) baked thoroughly for 15-18 minutes and its not anywhere near being ready to sand, after baking for 30 minutes its not bad for sanding but not anywhere near how CBP 250 sands. This is why I usually dont use it unless im priming at the end of the day and letting sit overnight. Also dont care for the fact that you cant put any accelerator in..January 6, 2013 at 3:19 am #40179Haven’t used it, but if it has 3x the mil build of cbp250 then why would you need to bang on 3 coats
January 6, 2013 at 3:27 am #40180You are getting on it too soon,a thicker primer will need longer dry time.A good rule of thumb is 1hr per coat for air dry and minimum 30 mins from an infrared lamp at 18″ and more if shop temps are lower in the winter time(stick to tds for individual product).Another way to speed up dry times is to put your IR light on the panel BEFORE you start primimg to warm the panel and each coat as you go,be careful and gentle or you can make blisters and solvent pop :rofl Less is more here 😛
I haven’t tried it but have heard good things about it,cbp250 is quite thin in regards to filling power.
Haven’t used it, but if it has 3x the mil build of cbp250 then why would you need to bang on 3 coats
Why take a chance with spraying two coats just because it has the supposid “3x the mils”, even when bodywork finished in 220. Seems like your asking for trouble with anything less than three.
