Hey everyone I’ve been having some problems getting this clear to lay out nice without a ton of peel. Im spraying with a tekna prolite using the te20 cap and 1.4. I’ve been toying around with air pressure and I just can’t seen to find a sweet spot with this clear, I’ve gone from 18 psi to 25. Clear is going over autobase+ using the 100:80 mix ratio.

I’ve been spraying sikkens for about 5 years, mainly used ac3 but also dabbled with autoclear PC for a little while as well. So far im stumped, im not looking for a complete glass look I would just like to be able to look down the side of the car and not see damn peel that looks worse than factory, hell I’d be content with just a factory look.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try bumping up the pressure to 28-30 psi and move in closer.I really liked a first gen rp with a 1.4 for HS+.What are you using for hardener and activator?A slower mix will go on in thinner wetter coats which will drastically cut down on texture on the sides.

HS+ 2 pack only has 1 hardner, and has a slow and fast clear, 2:1 mix with the MPU machine.

Just recently started mixing in a little but of fast with the slow as booth temps have finally gotten into the low 80’s high 70’s.

    No worries.

Had a similar issue when switching to the dekups system on my Tekna copper. Raising the air pressure to 26-28 resolved this issue.

Try putting some flex additive that seemed to help me with that issue but it’s goin to slow it down a little more so need more flash time between coats

I’m still thinking bumping up the pressure, moving in nice and tight,75% overlap and move fast, this technique works with all sikkens products 😉

Hk p30 Hello. I like the USP better but anyway, I use the same setup as you with the same clear. imho the prolite should be set at 26 to 30 psi for clear at a distance of 4 inchs maybe even closer if you can handle it. This usally creates and acceptable oe finish. Of couarse depending on manufactor. If this dosnt work I have used 35 to 38psi at 4 inchs with no air pattern spliting. Also this does not seem to effect material consumtion that much. But it does create a flat finish. I like 2 pack better than the standard version but you do lose a little control particularly in the middle temps. I feel fast clear is two fast to mix with the slow at a rate of 1 to 1 to produce a med speed clear. I like 75 % slow to 25% fast. Even 90% to 10% can work. Just my opinion though. 2 pack also seems to like faster flash times for larger surface areas, if you can get away with it. Again just my opinion. Hope this helps.

Thank you all for your help, looks like I’ll be upping the pressure come Monday and see how things go.

What is the advantage of using the two pack version over the regular version?

If your using the MPU machine with the 2 pack you get a really nice workout with your dominant arm , but the main advantage I see it for is making up that last 2 ounces to finish the bottom of a door, the machine makes real quick work for that. The reps have said that it allows for more precise chemistry yielding a better looking finish. That I can’t dent the gloss level with this stuff is amazing, and I still haven’t seen a car dye back yet, using it for about 5 months with an average of 6-8 cars through the booth a day.

I’ve been using the 2 Pack with the slow package. My gun set up is 1.3 with the TE20 cap at 26 psi. Gun distance is 4-5 inches with about 75% overlap. The results I am getting are very favorable and dries faster than you would think. With the slow package, the clear wets up real easy which allows me to move a bit faster, which then allows me to put on a thinner but smoother coat. I still get the desired film thickness required for this clear.
When i tried the 1.4, the material delivery was too fast and fat and had to paint at a faster rate than i like.

Just my opinion with the ProLite, which I like very much for clear and basecoat. But with Basecoat,I use a 1.4 tip.
