I know that a lot of technicians use the H&S Stinger Plus, which is what I was going to purchase to start with since it is the only stud welder I have ever used. Then I ran across a Snap On that was in better condition and from a more reputable individual.
My questions are: how does the snap on stud welder compare with the H&S Stinger Plus?
Do the Snap On gun hold the stud pins without dropping them out when pointed at the ground?
Is the snap on gun a re-branded Motorguard magna spot? Thanks

I think you’re right about it being motorguard – at least that’s what I thought when I saw one a few years ago.
The H&S doesn’t drop the pins. I love mine.
March 10, 2012 at 3:53 am #36239Just in case someone has an old unispotter you can change the tip to the magnetic one http://www.hsautoshot.com/StudEase.html If I was doing collision again I don’t think I would ever use one now that we have one of the panel beater machines,it is the cats azz.
That’s for all the replies.
Sucks that the snap on I’ve drops pins but I guess it is something I must deal with now since that is the one I got.
Ended up getting it got 250 I don’t even think out has been used, didn’t come with the clamp but I think that it was a option from the dealer. And this panel beater you speak of sounds expensive. Lol
Any of you guys have a sata 4000 rp?
March 10, 2012 at 8:25 pm #36254Maybe i’m in the wrong thread.
A Maxi is a dent pulling machine that will also weld studs making a stud welder obsolete.
Sata’s don’t pull dents very well.

:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :roflGotcha, I’m kinda new to the game only worked at a small shop so not in with all the lingo. lol But yeah I was looking at some but they was starting at 1200 and I got my stud welder for 250. I’m just tryin to get started right now, hopefully I can grab one later if depending on how everything goes.
March 19, 2012 at 8:15 am #36381finally retired an old Spitznagel. that thing was a beast! have a H&S now.. works well although i think they changed the formula for the nails when the price of copper went up. they don’t stick quite like they used to. mine also seems to have sticky contacts from time to time and so i always unplug that thing when i’m done. (came back from lunch, something smelled like hot electrical and the dent gun was freaking HOT) bad juju
