Started using Sherman Williams Dimension line awhile ago…A urethane ss…Where my shop is in So California, the compliance
And voc are very strict..There are not alot of low end paints to choose from..Acrylics are non-compliant now as are the synthetics..Good grade urethane are pushing $300/gal..The Sherman Williams line is good but I am having a problem with solvent popping..Ive been at this for 35 yrs so I know all the tricks..Or I thought I did…Ive tried to counter everything that causes popping but to no avail…Any thoughts out there?a faster reducer may be cure but it might also cause dieback. i never sprayed enamels on a car but maybe spray a mist coat on then the next couple of coats are a bit heavier. a single heavy coat will cause you problems since the solvent doesnt evaporate as fast and stays on the surface longer.
January 15, 2010 at 9:28 pm #18682try upping the reducer in the mix an turn your fluid in a turn at the gun say like going from 8 4 1 to 8 6 1 an see if that helps keep it thinner an wetter plus a little better solvent wont hurt either what kinda gun ya shooting with anyway?? hope this helps 😉
January 15, 2010 at 9:45 pm #18684Definitely a good idea…was always afraid to over reduce in the past..calls for a 5-1-1..will go up to a 5-2-1..Using transtar
reducer..maybe Ill look around for a better on…any thoughts on a better reducer?…Gun is a nr2000 sata with a 1.3 tip..January 15, 2010 at 10:11 pm #18686in my system martian senour we have ts 1 thru 5 i would see what sherwin has to offer in there higher priced line usally being an old hoser is what gets us guys in trouble with any of the new high solids stuff an i bet since your in cali you guys dont have much reducer in those products so your gonna have ta start thinking thin is in 😉 :lol1 trust me i went thru a real learning curve when they started pulling the solvents out an uping the solids in these products
