January 24, 2013 at 6:09 am #40542I like the way the single stage on that rig laid down, is that Utech by chance? What gun/setup do you use for your single stage jobs?
Chuck
January 24, 2013 at 6:12 am #40543You bet utech 3.5(voc restricts 3.8  ) I use a first gen sata rp 1.4 30-33psi wide open fan and materials,75% overlap 3-4 inches away form the panel. We spray a ton of utech single stage and polybase.

January 25, 2013 at 6:01 am #40575yeah we have a bunch of stands for painting parts inside and out, just depends on the day and job. Most of these guys want to hang parts in an hr and 200 is fast for that.
January 25, 2013 at 6:37 am #40578New here. I am not experienced in water borne. The blend in the doors looks funny but with clear on top awesome.
January 25, 2013 at 6:45 am #40579Yeah that was just the 2nd coat, the 3rd coat is when the real blend happens. When you do your 3rd coat it is called a drop coat or orientation coat. This means you drop the pressure 6-7 psi and increase your distance 14-18 inches from the panel and use a 50% overlap and kick out on the blend panel while keeping the trigger pulled for a smooth transition.I took those pics so the guys who don’t use waterborne can see how goofy it looks.
January 25, 2013 at 7:09 am #40583Does the halo disapear as the base dries? Kinda milky. I will have to look up some info on waterborne. Times are changeing. Inforcement of lower voc products is not enforced here yet but its coming. Alot of people are scared because they have been doin things the otherway so long.
January 25, 2013 at 7:18 am #40586Yes when it dries it disappears, most times when you mix up a color its not even close to what it is supposed to be.I have been painting since the 80’s if I can get used to the changes anybody can 😉
January 25, 2013 at 2:14 pm #40590Hey Jay. first I love the homemade stand for the flat bed awesome I could do with one 😉 makes life so much easier I bet. your work is looking great and keep the pics coming. I would post but its pointless showing you pictures of all white fleet vans 🙁 but of a downer doing them as you turn to a zombie doing the same old thing….. But it’s only till feb then the real work starts.
How all you guys getting on with the waterbourne still haven’t done the change yet but I think it’s in the pipe line :rock
