Hello! I have two places near me that given the color code, can put my base coat paint in a spray can. Off course, this paint comes out darker and I need to blend it. I know that with a gun you would thin or dilute this paint with a clear base coat and use it as a second or third coat. So the question is, can these shops make me a can with 50% clear basecoat 50% coded basecoat? Why cant it be done?

AM960 is a spray can blender in the R-M line.

I would think other paint lines have something similar.

I have something called Melt Away for the edges, but the question is more geared to what can be put in a custom can. The one I just bought says nason 441-37, supposedly its dupont paint. Can they really not make a batch of my stock code paint, mix it with 50% clear basecoat of the same paint and put it in a can? That way Id do the same thing that’s typically done with a gun.

Did they give you a reason why they cant mix it like that?

I have no experience with mixing spray cans so I have no idea what is involved.

No they just gave me that “stupid customer, that cant be done” look.

Ive found out a lot of suppliers are clueless to a lot of things. You could just mix your own and use a Preval spray can to do it.

Awesome news. Basically the guy at the second shop said it couldn’t be done that way. But he actually came out with the paint before putting it in the can and thinned it out with a clear liquid, matching the old color. Lol, so basically he did what said couldn’t be done.
