My mrs had accident in our Mazda 2 and the insurance company wouldn’t let me do it at my shop. It was sent else where and has been painted at least 4 times that I know of. The second last time I picked it up the clear coat was still soft as and the film build was over 400 microns at some parts. In bringing it back to them I was advised they would be stripping it right back and starting again but have picked it up and the clear still feels soft to me. They are using water based and the Mazda is a 3 layer pearl.
Anyone on here had any issues before with standox or are these guys just a bunch of amateurs? Any info would be much appreciated
February 4, 2014 at 8:37 pm #45844I think the fact that it’s been there 4 times already answers the question about their competence level. My question to you is, Does the insurance company own the car? If the answer is no, then how can they tell you where the car is going to be fixed. they owe for the damages, period. It’s your car, you can do what ever you want with it.
February 4, 2014 at 10:12 pm #45845Exactly what ding said. That is a common misconception about the insurance companies. They CANNOT tell you where to take the car. You own the car (or in your name with a bank lien against it) but you are the one paying for the insurance. The car goes where you want it to. All the insurance company can do is try to steer you to who they RECOMMEND. But at the end of the day, that is all it is a recommendation. That recommendation doesn’t always mean that is the best place either.
