Our shop has been using the pf filler for a wile. We were in on the testing of it. I prefer the white myself.Really like the way it sprays and it sands better than anything I’ve ever used. We actually spray it with a 1.3 gun and are able to get good mils. The primer really sinks down and fills 180 grit scratches. We are considering switching from standox solvent to standoblue.
We helped with the testing to. The pf sealer is really nice too, way better than nonstop IMO. I dont like the PFC20 clear but The PFC30 clear is my alltime best clear ever. I have been spraying Standox waterborne since it was availible in my area, mabeye 6 years or so. and the new standoblue is a way better than the old first generation standohyde. Order some pfc 30 clear and give it a try you wont be disipointed.
March 14, 2013 at 2:05 am #42102Our shops switched from sikkens to standox stando blue last october. I like it ok dont have any issues. i havnt heard of the pf product yet. i really like the 16252 clear and the nonstop sealers lay down great. Did not care for the hs primer so i use the 2+1 primer now little harder to sand but it drys fast. If the clear you speak highly of is better than 16252 ill give it a try if it uses the same hardners
The PFC 30 is a nicer clear than the 16252 (Premium clear) they kinda spray the same but the PFC has better hold out (duribility) and a little more build and shine. All the PF products use there own PF hardners. I am surprised you like the 2.1 primer more than the HS. The 2.1 does dry fast but tuff to sand IMO. The PF primer sands super easy. Which hardners are you guys using?
March 14, 2013 at 6:36 am #42105When our shop was testing the pf filler(primer) the standox rep who was some kind of national head of something, I forget what, brought us the primer and some fast dry additive but no hardeners. He said for us to use the hardeners that we were using and told us to mix it 4:1:10-15% using the fast dry additive. We soon found out we didn’t need the additive because it kicked it over before we could even finish spraying it so we just mixed it 4:1. I guess they were trying to see if it would work with the HS hardeners. This primer (at least the white) works very nice with these hardeners, dries very fast, sands amazingly, and we haven’t had any issues with feather edges or sand scratches. I’m not recommending that you do this, I’m only telling how it worked for us. I am definitely interested in the PFC 30 but I think for spraying clear I would use the PF hardeners. 😉
March 14, 2013 at 7:05 am #42106Thats one thing i like about the standox line same hardnersand reducers for primer, sealerand clear.
I think that you can use the regular 2k hardners in all of the pf products, but I know that you can not use the 2.1 hardners in the pf products. I would like to see how the pfc 30 and pfsealer work with the 2k hardners but we can not use the 2k hardners in our area. I would bet the pfc 30 with regular 2k hardners and a drip of fast dry additive would be a nice clear and fairly quick to boot.
March 15, 2013 at 7:19 am #42123Thanks for the info. Definetly gonna contact my rep and see about using the 2k hardners. If he says no it may even be worth switching to the whole pf line.
March 16, 2013 at 9:14 am #42133Yeah. Never hurts to ask. I think I have my jobber talked in to giving me some platinum clear. Have you ever tried it? I sprayed it once at a class but everything works great in class. 😉
April 9, 2013 at 3:10 pm #42714
Did you get some Platnium clearcoat? I have herd great things about it, but have never got my hands on any to spray, unfortanatly it is no longer available in my area.
haven’t been able to get any yet. Seems with my jobber its getting real hard to get free stuff anymore. Nobody in my area is using it and my sales rep told me they would have to order a case to get it. I’m not giving up though. I’m gonna check with my standox rep soon. :cheer:
