Ah, so you assume I don’t used a high solids clear? Maybe not so much the low voc…
October 29, 2011 at 6:07 pm #33882Barely at about 40%,slightly more solids than ACIII ,but I thought you used SPI clears exclusively. Most of the HS clears on the market fall into that category.HS+ stays open for a very long time so you can get away with spraying it like you do.You have numerous choices on how fast or slow to make HS+,either super slow with autocryl hardener vs. rapid hardener or extra slow activator vs.rapid,medium,standard.
October 29, 2011 at 6:14 pm #33883You know so much about me, Jayson. I do now, but used Sikkens for years before switching to SPI. Autocryl hardener and standard/extra slow activator all the way. I’m no prodcution shop. I’m guessing you know the solids content of SPI’s high solids clears?
I have no reason to be using “low voc” products in my area. Maybe when that time comes I’ll have to rethink my techniques. :silly:
October 29, 2011 at 6:21 pm #33884No I don’t know too much about SPI but heard there MS clear has higher percentage than universal and they stopped making HS,50% area?I have used some universal clear on a couple of jobs just to try it out.You are lucky where you are,I miss numerous products that I can no longer get
October 29, 2011 at 6:28 pm #33885Never heard that before. Universal is every bit as high solids as the HS+. Never used the MS but know from others’ accounts that it is lower solids, and have used plenty of utech ms clear in the past, so I know “about” what it is like.
This area will probably be the last to be hit by the voc laws….or it may even never get here/enforced. Who knows.
October 29, 2011 at 6:32 pm #33886Might even be a touch more,Sikkens HS+ is barely a high solid product,I was talking about spi HS clear, they don’t make it anymore or do they?
October 29, 2011 at 6:47 pm #33888Quit making it a year or so ago I think. It was the highest solids content clear they had I believe.
October 29, 2011 at 7:52 pm #33892I have got to be honest here. I have always started in the middle and worked my way out. That was with sherwin CC639 and CC950. I never had any problems with it melting but I always used the slowest reducers when doing an overall. I am 6’2 and can reach over halfway on hoods and roofs on most cars. I have tried to work my way in and never felt that comfortable doing it.
October 30, 2011 at 4:28 am #33897Think this thread should be relabeled. Not getting much info on the supernova
