Try regular wax and grease remover and see what that does.Like others have said, blow the snot out of it before it’s in the booth.Once it’s in the booth masked and ready to go, turn on the fan blow it off with your hand following the air from your blower acouple of times. Now wipe it down with W&G,then blow and tack it a couple more times, tack one more time before you put on sealer or paint.Even if your towels are giving off lint this S.O.P will take care of it.
uh oh where getting in to S.O.P’s G.M.P’s K.P.I’s and 3PQ’s :chair
dont ya just love this free country you can do it your way as long as you follow their rules (I know they have certain steps to follow to make sure we idiot proof everything)
Sorry but I have been having that crap pounded in my head for the last 13 years Our new one is MOS and CI
you know the Continuous Improvent kick everyones on I got one I made up its
CPIMA = Continuous Pain In My Ass :chair
Sorry what were we talking about again? Bad Shop Towels was it ?
I use Cotton Rags and cheap Crystle Tack rags
and do that same as jason has posted works for me
Laugh if you want to but I don’t use tack rags anymore.
And hardly ever use wax and grease remover.
Before I start, and when I’m done with my final sanding, I wash everything
with Dawn dish soap, never had fisheyes after doing that.
Once dry, I never blow it off with air, that just causes static,
which will make dirt stick to it.
I tack off with Endust useing clean dedicated shop rags that I wash and
keep just for that. Laugh if you want but it works better for me
and the Endust removes the static which keeps it cleaner.
Been doing it that way for over 10 yrs now, never a problem.
You all can keep those nasty sticky tack rags.[quote=”JCClark” post=19533]Laugh if you want to but I don’t use tack rags anymore.

March 26, 2011 at 6:52 am #29845Endust? Isn’t that for cleaning furniture? You’ve got my attention. An anti-static furniture polish to clean my woodwork and also to final wipe before paint. Sounds good to me.
March 27, 2011 at 2:47 am #29856SOOO you don’t blow anything off, don’t use wax and grease remover or waterborne cleaner, and endust is the magic cure…..give me a break :rofl :rofl I call Bullshit on that one…sorry

I didn’t do a final tack on one of my jobs one day!
After hosing on the sealer/base/clear I was able to bury most of it…and the hour I spent wet sanding and polishing took care of the last of it… :S
I also have a hard time believing you can get a perfectly clean job otherwise…
Endust is NOT a cleaner and is NOT a polish.
It is made for only one thing, dusting.
And as the directions say, it leaves NO residues.
Don’t confuse it with Pledge, totally different product
for a different purpose. Dusting only.It works much better than a tack rag.

I know your work from the other board its always nice and I know you’ve taken flak for publicly admitting to useing that stuff before.
I almost tride it and I will try it just not on my current project. You know its a real shame guys wont look at the science of things before they call BS
Its really to bad the mfg wont let go with more information about the product and your use of it.As far as Tacking between coats I do if its Base coat But not single stage like Im useing now.
I had to respray my hood the other day and again I tacked it and blew it off and Tacked it again same thing.
Trash with the first coat! I have enough material on there to sand and buff but still something’s going on with my booth that I havnt figured out yet.:deadhorse - AuthorPosts
