Alstate told us we were gonna be pulled off their program since we were not a gold shop. All techs and estimators have to have 5 gold points each. Took the class on preping the surfce and masking. What a bore. I was pretty dissapointed that I didnt learn anything from it. It was very basic and repetitive. At least I didnt have to pay for it and it will get the insurace companys off our backs.
It was at a Ford dealership that was mind blowing  Maybe Im just small town but this place had it all! Huge tropical fish tanks through ou the place, a couple of dellis to eat at, a video archade for the kids, a boat and jet ski store with proshop selling every kind of water sport accessory known. Several large conference rooms, weight room and locker rooms. It was just crazy! The body shop was huge! All airconditioned, two over head uni-spoters that run the length of the shop, 2 USI downdratfs, 6 prep stations with curtains, wash bay, 2 buffing bays and I would say about 30 cars in process! I was told three painters split the hours and do around 500 hours a week at times. It was something else!
April 11, 2010 at 11:24 pm #20610There are a lot of nice shops like that around the country. I have even been in some small ones that blew my mind. I would rather have cash in my pocket than a fish tank, but I think equipment and training are premiere.
