Hey Glen, I’ve been screwing around with the Valspar LVB solvent base system for two weeks now… my shops all are raving about it. The pricing is good, the color match is amazing and its really nice to spray. Non of my shops are asking for transtar anymore, and I’m also starting to steal matrix customers now too.
You should see if you can get a demo of it. Might be a good move for you in light of your having trouble with the transtar for matches and dry-spray.
The system has a very comprehensive variant box, and I have checked every mix we have made so far and they all are perfect matches. The only thing is you WILL want to follow the software and use a colored ground coat whenever it tells you to.. I’m sure Andy will back me up on this, as its the same formulations with Debeer.
Tom.
I can send you the rep’s contact info if you like.. I would go valspar over matrix if possible. matrix is going to spray dry just like transtar. I didn’t really like matrix when I sprayed it. As a store owner I pay a LOT of attention to what is being said about different lines by various shops. I had a GTA wanda jobber in my store yesterday visiting and he said valspar kicked his @ss when it came to town.
Its going to be whoever is cheaper that gets in. I won’t be able to control what happens. It may be the current supplier vs 2-3 others. I may end up having to buy pre mixed paint. I may be able to have a say in what paint lines are competing.
I sprayed some lv905, it drys smooth and flat. Have to hammer it on to keep it wet but its ok. If all the base layed down like it, I could manage alot better.
Hi.
I been spraying NoMix LV for 18 months.
We had one delam job. Luckily it was a small one, looked like a dry spray problem.
I totally agree with the seedy/ dry over spay issues. Reducing 150 % is pretty nice. We put on a wet bed of LV500 first and it helps especially if your painting all the base in one visit. If there are any issues and you have to do a more blending then I would have to mix in some LV500 to help it melt in.
Its a little unfriendly to paint from the seedy point of view really unfriendly from the colour match POV.
We have there tiny colour chips, but they are tiny. They are a starting point, better than without.
The signature clear selection is nice. We use all the of them, speed, production, and glamour. The glamour is my favorite if time permits it’s use. 50 %solids is sweet. Speed clear is handy in some applications, production dues back about with baking but constant with most production clears out there.
Valspar LV sounds interesting. Keep me posted.
I have to say what I dislike about no mix the most is their frequent use of xirallics in mixes where normally not used by other brands and their off balanced price on those pearls. Punch in the code for that funky yellow tristage used on the new fords and have a look at how much the midcoat is…. its about $400 a quart!!!
I’ll PM u the reps name and number for valspar cuz I have no idea who has it in your area.. you will really like it compared to no-mix… i’m shocked how well it is performng for my customers. And its very econimical by comparison.
