Alot of my dirt actually comes from my tack cloth:wak If my base goes on dry and has a roughness to it, when I tack over it tiny fibers get pulled off the rag on get snagged on the rough base. Its a real pain in the butt! Its real bad if I use an older cloth.
now thats a good post:clappy :clappy :clappy :clappyDecember 2, 2010 at 8:38 am #25743Yep! thats what happens when you spray sherwin.:rofl I have started using a slower base coat stabilizer. It helps a little.
December 2, 2010 at 9:06 am #25745The info given is good advice. If you are doing a vehicle the most obvious thing is to make sure it is clean and the jambs and wheel wells are clean.I can vouch for dx-103 ,that is the best thing ever, works really well for a final wipe or to mist on to kill the static. Back in the day when we used a crossflow we used to vacuum out the intake filters and give them a spritz of water to help trap dirt. Also keep the intake area clean if you can.HTH
yea my cross flow is homemade so i dont know how a manufactured unit looks in person. but as far as weatherstripping goes, i had a saturn ion here that we were parting out and the weatherstripping on it was pretty thick so i used that to seal up the doors and the clean out part of the exhaust vent. worked pretty well so i think you might be able to find something similar to work for you.
i also dont do any sanding in the shop during the paint process as an extra precaution and like everyone else said cleaning is key to a clean paint job.
@ rudy..i can get you the phone number for future cure, thats the style spray booth i have and they sell the rubber that you fold in half for the door sweeps, it comes in a roll, i just replaced mine send me a message if you’d like the number or i could send you a pic of how my door sweeps are so you can see if that will work for you
