Ive always thought 1500 to 3000 is a bit of a big jump up the grits, Im sure trizact makes 2000, but i rarely see people use it, usually go right from 1500 to 3000. I dont do much polishing anymore, myself.
    Just a thought
We recently started using the SIA foam backed paper (like trizact). We use 2000 then 3000. Like Jim C says, you need to change them a little more often, then they work great.

polished with 3m f/c then 3m perfect it yellow then 3m holigram remover left us looking like this …. with no scratches what so ever

there you go!! looks great from the pic. expensive yes but you make up for it 10 fold in the time. it really seems like that with alot of 3m’s stuff. they really get you on the price but the labor savings is killer.

    Nice one!

We use the 3M system at work, although only the green and yellow. No point going as far as the Ultrafina for us since less than half an hour after the cars leave my shop the valet team put them through a car wash with big swirly brushes!! :wak :deadhorse

You might find you get through the green foams quite quickly. They do a really good job, but wear down pretty fast, and if you catch a sharp edge they just disintegrate. We probably get through 2 boxes (of 2) on an average week. Still haven’t found a foam pad to better them though for their combination of cut and finish.

i generaly use 3M 260L disks 1200 to 1500 i only use an interface for curves and swage lines ,flat panels are done using my Feestool DA which has a fairly soft pad ,this method deals with peel better as an interface doesnt get it down half as well

i do have a trizact for my mini mirka DA but dont often feel the need to use it as P1500 on a DA acts as 3000 anyway so trizact 3000 will be acting as 6000 and i realy dont see much point to it as my compounds can easily deal with even 1000 wet scratches anyway ,so for me i dont feel the return warrents the outlay or extra labour involved with trizact

for full blow custom work i flow coat anyway plus most of it is on bikes where i can use mini guns such as my minijet or ANI gun ,most often there is no peal to deal with and i can buff with minimal sanding back

I’m on a slightly new polishing regime, recommended to me by a new employee. For speed it work likes a gem

I Start nibbing large bits of dirt (If any) with 1200 wet and dry on a little round 3M Red block (Bout 10p sized). I quickly (Real quick) rub over the pannel with a piece of 1200 wet and dry by hand just to knock the top off. I then use a 260L 3m 1500 on the DA, followed by a Mirka 2000 Abralon, followed by a quick (Again really quick) buzz with a 3000 Trizac on the DA

I then use a combiation of 3M Fast cut plus (Green Top) and 3M Perfect it (Yellow top) on the 3M green compunding foam. I agree with what others have said, the green foams are great but really fast wearing! They fall to pieces if you catch an edge lol.

For everyone using Trizact try the Maguire pads they are half the cost and last longer than Abarlon. Owned by 3m they use to cost the same amount but they have since lowered the cost and they are working great for us.

i recently tried eagle’s bufflex system. i am really liking it so far. haven’t used it enough yet to give any solid info though. i use their dry finishing film since its about less than half the cost of 3m’s, last twice as long and cuts twice as fast.
