Hello all, I am hoping you can help my autobody professional match the Alto Grey paint on the lower cladding of my 1990 Mercedes 560SEC.
I had him refinish my rear bumper and repaint it — yet the paint is now clearly not a match unfortunately. I do not believe he mixed the paint in any way before spraying. How should I advise him to properly prepare the 7700 Alto Grey paint?
Is this paint supposed to be single stage? Please educate me as I really do not know what I am talking about regarding automotive paint. I would like to pass on to him the correct information he needs to paint the car correctly.
Here are the before pics, showing how the bumper paint should look, along with a side view of the matching lower cladding along the car:

September 26, 2013 at 2:59 am #44631I have painted one last week but forgot the paint code for that.im sure u can find it with the color books
September 26, 2013 at 4:17 am #44632lol had to do couple this month like this we put in the main body paint code and then hit relate colors to find the lower color code which is color with a flat clear on top and it is alot harder to to match cause of the flat clear makes the side tone darker
September 27, 2013 at 2:22 am #44643The main color looks to be black. If it is 7700 is the proper color code for the cladding. In RM, the paint line I use, we use a variation and it usually matches. The side cladding looks to be a little chalky in the photo you’ve provided though.
AnonymousOctober 12, 2013 at 10:58 pm #44915PAINT DOERS NOT MATCH EXACTLY— IT HAS TO BE BLENDED I t should not be a single stage paint on that. base and then clear. IF i was doing it i would probly blend the color into the door cladding, and maybe the rocker.
lol could you have taken a worse picture, that bush is right in the way.
The quarter lower moulding also looks different to the door, but hard to tell, better images required
CB is correct if you require a good perception of matching colour you must blend.
Lower moulding and bumper colour’s can be a real p i t a
