Hey guys had any one used upol products such as the acid etch and primers. I ask as the rm products are real pricey as every has to be shipped over to where I live as we don’t have agents or reps.
I have some (extra time 😉 ) so I’m thinking of doing a bulk order of the stuff.
Would love a heads up on itJanuary 13, 2013 at 6:28 pm #40331I use the Upol 2k etch and System 20 high build, have done for years without any problems.
January 13, 2013 at 9:39 pm #40337Is that the acid etch #8 in the red tin, plus I was looking at the 3:1 filler primer 🙂
January 13, 2013 at 10:28 pm #40339The spray bomb etch and filler primers aren’t all that great and a anti static wipe or wax and grease remover will soften them. The upol 20:25 4:1 2k urethane primer works very well we have been using it for over 6 years with no issues what so ever.
Upol flyweight gold filler and dolphin glaze are also very good products.January 13, 2013 at 10:36 pm #40340I should say I’m in the UK so products may differ (not sure where you are) and I’m only just swapped to WB just now though not encountered any problems thus far.
January 13, 2013 at 11:01 pm #40343I’m in canada pretty sure the products are different.I know we can’t get easy 1 filler here and a few other things.I have found with sikkens autowave if you spray directly over spray bomb primer the base will eat right into the primer, sadly you would have to seal it or not use it.
January 14, 2013 at 12:02 am #40346I used the #8 acid etch primer some years ago, the type you tip in the gun, not aerosol type ones.
It was okay, better than aerosol etch primer but nowhere near as good as the DeBeer 2 part etch primer I use now which works out about £25 for a litre of primer and litre of activator. Mixed 1:1 making 2 litres. Making it around £12.50 a litre which I think is cheap for a quality product.
Heard they’re clears are okay for the price but will die back.
January 14, 2013 at 12:17 am #40348Ok that sounds great what’s the name for the etch in the debeer and is there a web site in the uk I can order it from, why I’m asking is I have four motor bikes to prep and paint and the fairings are fibre glass well part from the tank lol with them being for racing the cost of paint is getting to high with using the rm. so if I could find something which is little cheaper to help them out and to get them coming back to me after each season 🙂
January 19, 2013 at 1:18 am #40441Hey guys. So I pick up my order in the morning for the u-pol products, I got three different body fillers, an etch primer not an aerosol, plus three litres of grey 3:1 of filler primer and a litre in the beige. and a litre of 5:1 also couple of litres of hardener and thinners. I’m waiting on the 4:1 filler primer to be in stock , would love if you guys could point me in the right way with the upol as I don’t use it cheers
February 22, 2014 at 2:22 pm #45932Some upol stuff is fine I know of one guy all he uses is their under coats and clear never had a problem that I know of.
I do like their aerosol fade out thinners as good as any other I’ve tried and better than some. - AuthorPosts
