Gotta question here, I’ve used Polyester surfacer in the past (1993) and had problems with checking and crazing (evercoat brand ). so since then i stopped using it and stayed with urethane primer surfacer. what do you guys use or prefer for primer surfacer? any economical brands? polyester or urethane?

i love polyester, i dont base directly on it though. i use it where you would use a glaze or need a light filling. i cut it with some 150 then urethane primer over it.

I usually only use it on resto work too. Big body repairs I’ll sometimes use it too, almost always top it with a urethane primer, lower end stuff I’ll use a urethane wet on wet sealer instead.
