I’m having no luck finding a color in EHP for GM code MM it’s a 65-67 Royal Plum Poly. The PPG color library hooked me up with a European Ford formula that was suppose to work but it isn’t even close in the light. If I can find a standard in a different waterborne system I’ll have no qualms with ordering from a local jobber (if i can find one). If any one can look into this for me it’d be appreciated.
April 21, 2011 at 11:29 pm #30446I’m not seeing much in Sikkens Dillon. I have a colormap number, but even under that the options are very limited as to what can be mixed in water. Example the one formula that crosses has a zyrillac pearl in it. Im not thinking they used that in the 60’s
April 21, 2011 at 11:33 pm #30447I found it in Nason low voc solvent base, which you should have there. Dupont has it in their solvent but not available in Canada. Not sure how much I would want to use nason low voc solvent but its available.
April 21, 2011 at 11:50 pm #30448That’s what I figured would happen. The European formula that PPG hooked me up with had green, white, and blue pearl. And it’s a metallic color from the 60’s . I removed the pearls leaving only a little white, and added a medium metallic and it’s actually not too bad. I think I might be able to use this as a starting point to building a blend able match.
April 22, 2011 at 9:10 pm #30456is it still in production, i mean the color, i know sometimes ppg will discontiue certian formulas. in the past i’ve had to have the store come out and take pictures.
April 23, 2011 at 1:08 am #30461Did you phone the ppg color lab? I have done this quite a bit with Sikkens, they will do a lab match for me with older colors(muscle car)with great results, depending on how much time you have?
April 23, 2011 at 1:11 am #30462+1, for got about the color lab. dc they should be able to hook you up. at least get your jober to call them for you, that’s what you pay them for.
April 23, 2011 at 8:03 pm #30472I did call the color lab, that’s where I got the this Ford Europe formula.
