Having an issue lately. We are getting water at the inlet of our gun. We are not having a whole lot of water at the drop line. We have a 3 stage air filter system right at the booth. It seems like the water is forming in the air hose between the gun and filters. We also installed a bomb type filter at the gun but the water seeps out at the connection. Not quite sure of what’s happening. Any thoughts?

Your compressor is likely wearing, and producing moisture (and oil blow by) as a by-product. I have a refrigerated air dryer in my shop. As such, in 5 years through all sorts of climatic conditions, I have never had water in my lines or hitting a job. Might be something to look into Craig. Mine cost about $1200 and has been worth every cent.

i have had desiccant type systems and once i got a refrigerated unit i never looked back. ref ones are so much nicer and almost maint free. you didnt mention what the air filter you had was. if it is a desiccant type then your media needs changing (the white beads…activated alumina). water forms in the lines when the air temp cools so at the gun its cooling and the moisture is condensing and dripping. desiccant, if good can pull uncondensed moisture out of the air if its not real excessive. as for the other filter stages, they cannot. the air must cool for the water to condense and be filtered out.

At what point in the line id your drier? Is it close to the compressor or closer to the booth? I have read different opinions on the location.

dont forget to drain your compressor.

Drain the compressor daily, sometimes twice. It’s acting like the air is being heated and cooled after the filter system. We have a three stage devilbliss system. Going to look into a refrig. drier next week.
