Welding question

I have good experience of mig welding but none on cars. The only welding I did on a car was many years ago and that was oxy-acetylene.
I need to weld on a couple of broken off exhaust hangers. Does anyone bother disconnecting the battery before mig welding on the body? Or do I just find a good clean ground like the rocker and weld happy without worrying about the vehicle electrics?

we have a thingy that clamps to the battery when welding to protect electronics but if you don’t have one it’s safest to disconnect the negative battery post. 😉
