February 16, 2009 at 5:56 am #12763it’s a pretty transparent red. but it does cover fairly well. i was putting the coats on light and think i did 5. if i put em on heavier i probably would have gotten away with 3.
The clear was Napa’s Martin Senour line 15420. a very nice clear at a fraction of the cost of the glaso stuffFebruary 16, 2009 at 4:08 pm #127655 coats still isn’t bad for a red metallic. Some of Duponts is in the range of 8 or 9 coats. That is a nice looking clear.
February 16, 2009 at 4:41 pm #12766I sprayed a red acura mdx one time with dupont. I think I had about 8 coats with that thing
February 16, 2009 at 9:51 pm #12768Looks good, Red is very tranparent. Allways put on more thant Dupont says.
What a sweet booth and setup! That would be a dream for me.
And with Chromabase, 8-9 coats minimum for metallic reds. More like 12. But now i lay down a few coats
of solid red after sealing (either reduced epoxy or 2K). Glad it’s not such a common color…It’s a lot of film build and the way the flares sit flush with the panels, the paint has to be cured well.
Otherwise, it will dig into the paint easily should someone lean on them. - AuthorPosts
