    what do you guys prefer?

DA. Because i run a production shop and DA is 10 times quicker.

DA, for the same reasons given above.

If I get any major chunks of dirt then I’ll block them out first to make sure they’re flat, but the majority of the time it’s just minor nibs,so the DA works fine.

You guys wet sand with a DA sander? like with 600 grit? I always thought everyone wet sanded by hand? Although, I have never worked in a production shop.

    Not with 600, no.

As a rule it would be 1500 dry on the DA, then 2000 or 3000 wet to reduce/ refine the sanding scratches to make buffing much quicker and easier.

Using the disc wet also in my opinion drastically increase’s the life span of the disc

    I agree Nick.

The Abralon pads we use don’t last 2 minutes dry.

I can get Abralon’s to last an age with a bit of moisture (Not wet). I find they clog real quick when wet. I Use a plant spray bottle with a mix of 4-1 with water and water based degreaser. A few light squirts on the abralon and away you go. I find the slight soapiness of the water based degreaser keeps the pad real clean.

I used one 2000 pad today for a Mondeo Bonnet, two wings and two doors. Still cutting great come the end..
