Hi guys
Id like some answers to this. My friend painted his wifes car. He used chroma base red and added house of kolor neon Kandy pink and used it as a baseccoat. He shot two coats of clear of top that. Id like any kind of input or advice.

Ill try to exp;ain this again. My friend had some chroma base red but not enough to cover the whole car. My question is can my friend add house of kolor Kandy pink to use as a base coat???????
He can do what ever he wants …. but it might not work :whistle: and what a nightmare, if he ever has to try to match it. sounds like tempting old murphy a little more then necessary.
I would not do that. Putting someone else’s clear over another basecoat is one thing. To intermix different brands of basecoat together is another story.
First issue I see is that Dupont has to have a basemaker and HOK uses a urethane reducer. You HAVE to use basemaker. You wouldn’t want to use a basemaker with HOK. I can see this failing quickly. I would just buy more red base and be done.
I’m assuming he has KBC basecoat and not a UK Kandy or a KK Kandy
one other thing is candy pink is not lightfast. its fades very easily and is only meant for show cars. says it right in the tech manual. i totally agree with ryan on this. i have mixed hok and rm diamont together many times but they are very similar in makeup. dupont is different and requires a reactive reducer. i wouldn’t do it.
