Just curious to know the reaction?

Primer was in this area over some sanded down scratchs. It is on a plastic bumper cover. I noticed a faint line after removing the bumper from the stand, now the owner (personal friend) just showed me this today. It has gotten way worse.

    To much primer?

Repair will be to sand down to original paint and redo.

Thought so, this is when I used that Omni mp282 and I couldnt get it to spray out, i think I went a bit to heavy.

You would make most bodymen blush with that kind of primer job :cheers

I’ve had that omni primer crack on bumper covers. Usually in a corner or something when it’s hammered on.

start sanding on it, bet you get to bodyfiller to find that crack.

lild, I am positive there is no filler behind it. This area was far away from the repair and were just fingernail scratches.
I laid on the primer to thick and this is the result I assume.

Nah man I think Lild worked on that car after you! there’s filler there. :rofl

to me that looks like the result of not using adhesion promoter on the bare plastic area before laying down the primer.

Do you add a flexing agent to your primer brian?

    May 11, 2011 at 10:06 pm #30813

Adhesion promotor on the bare plastic. and alittle 814 flex additive in that primer should take care of that issue and that primer looks like its got 1/2 inch build on it.. so flex additive wouldn’t help much if its that thick..

I am going to chalk this one up as a learning experience to not build up the primer so thick.

Once I work on it, I will take pictures of me sanding it down.

    Question.

What should I sand it all off with before re-primering, 180? Prime, 320-400

    May 12, 2011 at 2:42 am #30815

180 or 240.. i would use 240 on a da..as i don’t like using anything coarser on plastic if u go down to the plastic as too coarse on plastic gouges it up to much IMO..also don’t hammer on your first coat of primer. a medium coat and let it flash good. then a couple more medium-wet coats as that is what that primer likes if u get it on to wet it likes to shrink up into a ball and roll on to the floor..:woohoo:

It looks the area may not have been prepped correctly, the scratches should have been sanded or filled before priming.
