This is kind of a side question on my guitar restoration thread. Painters what is the blackest deepest black you have used for automotive refinish? Brand and code. If it is clearcoated which brand of clear?

Black SS cleared comes to mind. The ones I have used have all but been discontinued. Look into PPG concept or maybe Glasurit 22 line if you want to go that route.

For a BC/CC option Sikkens 245 autowave toner straight is a very good looking deep black.

these are just straight toner colors that I now are a nice black

PPG DCC(Concept) – DMC921 Jet Black Toyota code 202(there is a clear and reducer added to this toner in the formula I have)
PPG DBC(Deltron 2000) – DMD1683 Black Harley Davidson Vivid Black
    PPG EHP(Envirobase) – T409 Jet Black

for any deep black color i need i use the toner in the nexa system p 990-8950 Jet Black. Its the same toner that Wydir mentioned in the Enviro system just a different PN and label

If just a solid colour, I’d do single stage. Otherwise I agree with Ryan, that the Autowave 245 is nice and black. DuPont has the Superjet black in Chroma base (more black than the blackest Cromax toner).

Thats what I’m talking about. Sikkens 245. Thats black. Some of these others are Obama black. Light , bright and almost white.

House of Kolor has a great black…BC25.It matches dodge code px8 which is pretty much straight autowave toner 245. Plus its way cheaper. Some where around 28 for a quart. Then you can buy HOK UC 35 in a quart which is HOK clear. It cost about 35 a quart. And a pint of hardner for 25, and a quart of reducer for 16. So thats about a hundred bucks and ur done. That’s minus a primer. There’s are cheap in small quantity. Just an option.

Side by side I think 245 is blacker than BC25. IF using BC25 it helps alot to add some kandy koncentrate. I think the one i used was KK05 cobalt blue, but i can’t remember for certain.

I think my blackest blacks have always been cleared once sanded and recleared….the depth seems to give it a good deep glow

Sikkens ACLV JET Black is about the blackout thing they make, and it’s single stage.

If you want solvent go for Autobase plus jet black (factory pak) only in liters.

Another good option is Ford UA either the dark or blue variant depending on what you want.
