July 12, 2009 at 7:21 pm #14886my guess is it was the wax an grease remover over the epoxy why in the hell ya wash down fresh epoxy after it layed without no problems that epoxy has enuff ta do without throwing a bunch of solvent on it the next day 😉
July 12, 2009 at 7:32 pm #14887leaving your car in epoxy in a plastic tent for 24 hrs then washing it down with who knows what w@g remover an whoknows what for rags really seems like a recipe for fisheye disaster im really starting ta like my 2 k urethanes more an more these days some how that guy in trying sooooo hard managed ta contaminated his car with somthing :kofee
Doesn’t It look like hes got it on way too thick in that picture ????
In the left of the light reflection its heavy but not popping too the right of the reflection it looks too me that its on way too thick more orange peel and starting to pop…… isn’t it???
Just my observationJuly 12, 2009 at 7:46 pm #14890well all i see are lotsa tiny fisheyes an a gun thats shooting way fat for base dont think theirs any pop going on there :woohoo: :teach
AnonymousJuly 12, 2009 at 8:39 pm #14892I see a combination of fisheyes and heavy peel. I don’t think using the W&G is the best idea but doubt it would hurt anything, but who knows what happens when you create your own random cleaning procedure. I’d think he’s got a contaminated batch of paint, something in the lines or silicone in the air from something. Looks like a pressure issue too, that texture isn’t right either.
July 13, 2009 at 3:50 pm #14897there are just too many variables in his procedure. everything from the cans to the rags, cleaning procedure,wg remover, spray technique….who knows and it makes it too hard to pinpoint the problem.
July 15, 2009 at 7:38 am #14905Okay, for one, fry me for being anal retentive, but the bumper cover is still on the car. I know this often seems like a non-issue and you get what you pay for but….and, two, that looks very consistent with what it looks like when you try to hose primer over -delaminating clear coat. It just doesn’t seem like a contamination problem because it doesn’t look consistent or patterned. I didn’t read the whole 101 string so it’s kind of like giving an estimate over the phone, but I’d look at product reduction for the appearance of painting over a vinyl top, and the surface being covered beforehand. Just a thought,
Jim
i think there’s a few things going on here the obvious fish eye cased by wg remover which has left non adhesive particle behind then there’s the spray pattern very poor application but I’m sure hel learn i have also made the same mistakes in the past but you soon learn from them lol
