Hi,
would anyone know if the current series of 929-110, 929-120 hardeners will work with Glasurit 21 Line ?I have about 15 liters of 21 Line that I wish to use up that was purchased for a restoration project and don’t want to have to throw away. Since the project is partially painted in this 21 line already I wish to finish it up with the balance I still have.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer in this regard.

December 26, 2010 at 10:52 pm #26488Hi Wydir,
I’ve checked the web with little or no luck. I found contact information for tech reps at the various BASF web sites but all the e-mail addresses listed so far are not current meaning my emails are returned as undeliverable. The local supplier doesn’t know and can’t say for certain. All I got was that they think it “might”. Too much work is involved to not know before applying paint.
The paint in question has been stored under ideal conditions so all I need to finish the project is the ability to add hardener to this paint so it will cure.
The information I had up until they changed these hardeners to conform with current VOC laws here, was that the 21 line of 929 hardeners had carried over to become part of the new 22 Line, and were totally compatible with my old 21 Line.
Now that they have changed things again this raises the question of whether or not the now VOC compliant series of 929 hardeners will be compatible with 21 line and not create any issues with curing etc etc.
Regards,
SteveBDecember 27, 2010 at 1:26 am #26491I would be inclined to say a big fat no they won’t work.21 line was discontinued so long ago I dont even remember when the actual date was but I’m thinking 94 or 95.The hardeners for 21 line were medium solids and now they are high solids, tough call if they will work. They might cure ok but longevity could be an issue. The only thing you could do is mix some up and try it and see,but the mixing ratio could be different. If it something you care about you would be better off to take a loss and start over, after sitting so long the paint might not be any good.I sprayed lots of 21 and 54 line back in the day but you could be asking for trouble mixing hardeners, not worth the risk IMHO.
