Will lean advertising compensate for $5 gal. gas?

kind of a shameless plug.I just read this link on ABRN where a guy started a thread telling everyone how $5 a gallon gas was going to cut into your budgets and to tighten your belts by putting 2% of your advertising budget into his pocket so that he could monitor your advertising and see if it was working. I would be more apt to give him 2% of my gross to figure out how to get rid of Pres. Obama and get a president in there that would stabilize oil supplies and gas prices in this country. At what point do we fix the problem and quit treating the symptoms?
What are your thoughts on what we should do about gas prices. Should we learn to live with these swings? Wait and pray it stabilizes? Go electric? What do you think?

How bout we stop trading gas on the comodities market and let the actual law of supply and demand work. last year the US exported more oil than it imported. So apparently we have enough to take care of us. Lets keep our own oil and and stop buy the crap from other sources. What Iran does should have no effect on the US oil market
I was thinking we should bring the keystone pipeline from Alberta down as far as the refinery in Billings montana, rather than down to the gulf, where most of it would be put on ships and exported. keep it here in the states.
