Im reading a lot of good things about the 3M Self Generating Vacuum DA sander and theyre only $180! wow that’s half the price of my snap on DA. From what im gathering they work really well too

The thing I like about having the prefilters is that their vertical to the floor, so dust wont settle on top of them like it would on the single set of ceiling filters.

Now I was talking to a booth salesman, and consider that he was selling a booth without the prefilters, he said that the ceiling filters remove something like 99% of particle so a set of filters before those wouldn’t really do much. But I had such good results in the side draft booth I sprayed in with the double filters that im almost scared not to have them

I really love the idea that the booth would be isolated from the body shop in that one room so I need you guys to help convince me that the single set of ceilng filters will still give me the great results lol

Jayson is there a filter on the inside of the makeup itself? I won’t have one of those til I save up a few more grand.. I didn’t think I really wanted one but now you’ve introduced that possibility of having the pre filters I like it more. I sprayed in a side draft booth without one for 7 years and was very pleased with the cleanliness of the jobs. So you say the prefiltrs are on the side of it!? I’d like to see one like that!

I’ll be going through the new booth break in process soon myself. Does your booth have two different sets of intake filters?

How much are the cups? Im currently getting nice PPG cups for .25 each. I also store the leftover paint in them if I have enough which you need the lid for at .15 each..

This may seem like a newb question, but are these systems really that much faster than the simple rinsing of the aluminum cup three times and hanging her up? Of course its more expensive, but where is the real benefit in these cup systems? I see a lot of big shops using them but have never tried them myself. I own my shop and we do 10-15 jobs a week. I like new and the idea of working smarter not harder but I haven’t been able to convince myself of the significant advantage of these cup systems. I mean after all you still have to clean the gun itself.

    Thanks in advance

Thanks for sharing your experiences! Although im open to more suggestions I have about narrowed it down to three possibilities. Upgrading to the 1.4 in my 3000rp (which ive read is faster than the 4000), getting a tekna prolite and seeing how it does w clear (which ive talked to some other guys who say it works exceptionally well for base), and the Iwata WS400 which people are saying lays out a slicker finish than the LS version or even the 3000 or 4000 but mayh be a tad slower. My decision isn’t going to be based solely on speed. And to be honest I think im going to order all 3 this week. Heck its what we make our money with right?

Anybody who has these setups feel free to chime in here!

Less than stellar huh? It had great coverage. . But I ran into a color match issue with code GAR on a 4th anniversary camaro. It was a color only for that model so I hope is an isolated issue. .

Im using a 1.2 now with the RP for clear so im sure that is some of it.. But the dang nozzle set for these things is about 3/4 the price of the TEKNA so im very tempted to try it out. Its good to hear the aircap sped things up a lot. Do you know if the 202 & 7e7 are comparable to the TE10 and TE20 that come with the kits today?

Im using it for clear only. I’m spraying PPGs shop line 620 and may be getting into some transtars soon…

Oh ok I gotcha all guns spray the same speed just depends what clear you use

Also when I moved up to a SATA from my transtar gun it sure did feel like a magic wand! I remember saying it was like the car painted itself lol

True however the new Chevy may be faster than the new Ford 😉

I’m primarily looking for more speed with clear and am wondering if I should switch guns or just get a bigger nozzle set. Currently using a 1.2
