everything we mix goes across a scale so I would know if guys were taking product. It is tracked very very closely. My guys are paid well enough that they dont need to do side work or steal materials to make a living…
WHOA!!!!He’s PARANOID too!:P :rofl
I wasn’t talking about side jobs,PERSONAL cars, some of us have hobbies outside of work that involve cars,I don’t need side jobs,I could work 7 days a week,12 hours a day if I were so inclined.
I think every shop in the free world is tracked electronically in this day and age,no worries about stealing product, wow,I can’t even believe you threw that out there,my suspicions about you were bang on……….
You friends with timbo
Nothing to do with that, just call it as I see it.;)
everything we mix goes across a scale so I would know if guys were taking product. It is tracked very very closely. I know for a fact,if I went down to my old supplier,he’d hook me up,no questions asked, that’s what I miss about PPG,top notch service on that level.:cheers
has nothing to do with greed. If a paint rep wants to give the painter free stuff so be it. But there is no reason for the shop to be giving out free materials to its guys. when the help fuks up and it costs the shop owner money do they reimburse the shop for the lose. No they dont. People that own business and employ others take a big risk every day they open the doors. Evey one has to work together to make the place successful. But if it was thay easy owning your own place you would still be in business for yourself :pcorn:
People here want complete paint jobs for $1200,and show quality, can’t pay the bills with that budget, nevermind my own wages,I did it for 7-8 years,I make more flat rate at the dealership hands down.
I got the answer I was looking for, apparently they’ll give materials to us for one personal project per year,so no problems.:stoned
Al from Chase has hooked myself and another guy from a shop I worked at with free paint, didnt seem to be a problem. Just straight out ask him to help you out with some paint for your own car
That’s the big Italian guy?
I only met him once before, worth a shot, thanx for the info.
The shop pays the materials bills not you, why do you think you deserve free materials? You arent generating the business, the shop is! None of my painters get free materials, I will sell them anything the need at cost, but until they are paying the paint bill they will not get free materials. If I chose to give them any free materials I get that is my choice. Just pay for what you use and all will be fine. Nothing is free in life..
Peopel see the cars at shows, they like the work, they come in to get thier claims taken care of,or they recommend friends, not a hard concept to grasp.;)
I have guys who come to get work done at my new place of work, who I used to do work for when I had my own shop, that’s bringing in business as well, you seem very greedy,I’d hate to work for you.
telling someone at a car show that you used Sikkens means nothing.. I wont lie we have gotten free paint over the years, but we spend 200K+ a year. Just suck it up and pay for your products everyone else has to..
The dealer group I work for consists of 21 dealerships, and all the bodyshops use sikkens,so I suspect we buy a little more tha 200k+ a year in product lol!:P

looks good in the pics ta me lild;) 😉 but most the time those boxes dont match the cab from the factory anyway i think its cuz the paint em at a diff factory so ya might have ta reshoot it with a color a lil more off than that ta bring it back ta tru pre accident condition nice job bubs:cheers :cheers
I usually butt boxes to cabs. With the Envirobase and Autowave we’ve had some great matches.
:agree
That and doing lots of spray out cards:cheers
I always go with what sata suggests for sikkens. With that said they are reccomending a 1.2-1.3 fo the 4000rp and I chose the larger 1.3.Sata reccomended 1.3-1.4 for the first gen and 3000rp(I used a 1.4).I don’t know how sata measures but there sizes are all over the place. The first gen 1.4 is about the size of a 3000rp 1.3,and the 1.3 4000rp is like a 1.4 3000rp,very strange and like I said the size of the orfice is all over the place,
My first sata was a 1.4 rp,and I liked it better than the 1.3 3000 rp I use now for clear, but I like to hog it on,just seemed to lay down flatter with the 1.4.
We have a new sata rep that’s supposed to be out this week with a demo gun,and I think they said they’re bringing us 1.3’s.
i couldn’t take it no more. i must reveal the real ugly truth to as why bumpers don’t match from the factory.
here it is.
they send them all to me to be painted.:wakand big ben has nothing on me.:weights
how do i do so many at one. simple, use as many guns as you can hyjack. i own the two sata’s, the husky belongs to another guy.
and you need some of these to keep up your arm strength.
and when your done. have a cold one, or 12.:cheers

Good job!
Always like those 73-87 chebys.:stoned
Ryan you are bang on with your analysis of the 4000.I have been using a 4000rp for the last 3 months with excellent results. The 3000 is faster but not by much(just depends how close you spray to the panel),the first gen rp and 4000 are similar in finish and speed.I got a better finish with a 1.4 in the 3000 vs.the 1.3.The sweet spot with the 4000 is 31.5-32 psi,and it does have a nicer wider fan,it rerally is a pleasure to spray with and effortless to lay down a nice finish. It would be interesting to use another brand of clear to compare but superior 250 works very nice with the 4000.
You and your son should do a side by side hairdo comparison :rofl
You spraying with a 1.3 or 1.4 4000 rp?- AuthorPosts
