I don’t know about Toyota but Honda in the us uses’ PPG DuPont and Sherwin that’s rite all three one for ground coat one for color and one for clear one year PPG might be clear one year maybe Sherwin the plant manager in Ohio told me this is how they keep the American paint manufacture honest with price and quality seems to work so who knows what there supplier of pre painted parts uses

I agree with Jason there more talented professionals on this site than any other I have seen I have 20 plus years of experience as tech painter manager and owner and learn new things from the guys on this site everyday maybe you need to read a little more before making that type of statement in my opinion

Hi again I know you brought up warranty anytime you use a omni product weather clear primer sealer or color you lost your warranty no matter what goes on top or below that being said I have used alot of it with out any major failures I have vehicles six years out that still look great but PPG is vary picky about warranty my regional manager has known me twenty years and will help me out if there’s a issue with omni but does not have to so beware mixing lines even if there all made by PPG never do insurance work with omni products follow your aquabase recommended under and top coats or your the warrant :rock y also PPG one choice works great for bumpers

Ok when I worked for Chevy I was one of 3 start to finish techs we used enviro hp I am not familiar with aquabase we used dps3055 primer and das sealer we finish sanded to 400-600 and 800 our blends and the water worked good as long as not to humid and not to heavy application that being said it is much pickier than solvent now that I have reopened my own shop I do a lot of similar work as you were cost is a issue so I understand your trying to save money but 1k primer is not the place even a cheap 2k and a infrared light would be a better route u said u were using omni primer now they have a low voc option in 3 colors that might help shades of grey are going to help no matter what line/brand paint you use as far as clears there much better ones than 2000 I have used alot of it but have been reimbursed for some failures the guys on here can point you in a good direction if they know your gun and booth set up also available venders in your area remember their are many different roads to get the same place in body work I do agree with you about getting more dirt but I know alot of these guys have got that handled to I hope this helps a little :stoned

I agree with Charlie I to 80 grit with da after blasting one thing even though the DuPont is a great product there are some much more price friendly epoxys out there and they are all for bare metal applications I use alot of omni epoxy and works vary well for about a third of the price and I am sure the other guys on here have some good alternatives to save money to put into the paint and clear

Jason is absolutely correct no spray gun is perfect for everyone that being said a good painter can make any quality gun work but he’s going to prefer one better simple as that :headsmack:
