I used what I had left of the Deltron DBC that I had originally put on the car. Just have to wet sand some orange peel off it and polish it back and and it will be hard to tell that it was ever damaged. I am very happy with the way it turned out and can’t wait to get it back out for a drive before I have to put it away for winter.

Yeah the door was a large repair area, went from top bodyline to bottom bodyline. Wasn’t much fun blocking that out, my arms and shoulders were hurting after I got it done. Overall the job came out good and the paint matched :dnc. Didn’t get any pics of the repair but got a couple of it in primer and a couple when I just got done clearing it. Take a look

Yes they are two different colors, my wifes 09 Outlander is Diamond white and my Regal is Silky White and there is a big difference. I ordered the paint off of the code on her truck but went with the Silky White so the two vehicles didn’t look the same. I did not know that the Silky white was a 2000 color. I have some DBC left from when I painted my car and am hoping that I have enough to do the repair on my car. If not I will be mixing it in water as the shop I am working at just put in the Enviro system today. Was nice to see the Sherwin AWX go out the door today :rock . Used the enviro on two jobs today and the difference between the two systems is night and day.

    Thanks again for the help.

2009 MItsubishi code W13. There is two different colors for that code, 1 is Diamond White and 2 is Silky White. I used the Silky white on my car.
    Thanks for the help Wydir

Going to be using PPG’s Envirobase on it. I am hoping that it will match against the hood. If not I guess I will just paint the whole car again :rock . Been thinking about painting it like a new AMG tri stage white matte finish.
    Thanks Ben and smooth

It all depends on what you are top coating with. If you are using a single stage paint then 320 will cover no problem. If it is going to be bc/cc then I would block primer with 320 then go over it with 500-600. Works for me without any sand scratches.

Another nice tri-stage white is Mitsubishi W13, nice and white with lots of sparkle in it. Here is a pick of it in the sun

PPG Deltron base, name of color is Silky White. It is the brighest, cleanest white I have seen, not any hints of yellow at all. HTH

We got a gallon of EC 700 to try out and see if that works. I do know that it is not good to mix different manufactures products and could run into some major problems. We are going to start shopping around with different companys and see whos got the best product and change paint lines entirely. The boss is not very happy with the way Sherwin performs and the fact that the reps will not help us out at all.

gnarly – I do pound this clear on, I put my first coat on like it is my last one, and I also spray close and fast, but not to fast. I like to keep it close and on the verge of puddling up.

Jayson – Thank you for telling me that HPC 21 is a speed clear. I had asked the rep if it was a speed clear and he told me that it was an overall clear. So it took the place of HPC 15?

    Thanks

Thanks for all the replys. We did some calling around yesterday to local shops using Sherwin products and they are all having the same issues with the clear, after we called our rep and he would not return our phone calls. I think that he is finally realizing that he is a complete tool that has no clue about what he is talking about or selling. Sherwin Williams does not care about customer service or technical support.
I painted a roof on a Lexus Thursday and flooded the roof with clear, with no wait time between coats, only to have it die back through the nite with it sitting in the shop with the heat on.
I am happy to say that I have sprayed my last gallon of HPC 21, we are now going to try some other companies clear coat, got some PPG clear in yesterday for me to try on Monday. Hopefully it goes well. If not we will be ordering some Sikkens Superior clear, I know that stuff works well.

There is no need to question my competence in spraying, have been painting over 15 years using everything from LIMCO to SIKKENS with excellent results, great shine, laid flat and minimal dust, so if you (sagikun) have nothing to add then keep your comments to yourself. Sherwin Williams is complete garbage.

I am not baking this clear, just letting it air dry. Using the UH900 hardener and ES 20 reducer. I always open the paint booth doors after it is dust free, and the temperature in the booth stays inbetween 70-80 degrees. Have even put a heat lamp in booth afterwards to keep heat on the area that was painted. Hopefully we can get this figured out soon as it is not good having to wet sand and polish every job.
    Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply Ben. I think that we are going to try a different line of clear and see how that works out for us, I am hoping that it is going to be Sikkens products. Our area rep is a complete tool when it comes to products that he is trying to sell/promote. He is just to quick to put it back on us saying that it something we did wrong.

    Thanks again.

I have used both the autowave and the awx and I have to say that Autowave is a much better product then AWX, dries quicker and matches much better, have butt painted some colours and it was bang on. Biggest complaint I have on AWX is color chips, check a paint code and it has say 6 variants but sherwin only has a chip for the standard variant. Who has the time to mix 6 colors, spray and clear 6 spray out cards? Not a production shop thats for sure.
I know if it were up to me I would be using Sikkens. Just my 2 cents.
