yeah i paint it way below the the recommend 2bar/30psi as well. blending is so easy to.

the only 2 thing i hate is, that you cant blend with out using a wet bed or it hallows like crazy unless its a darkish colour so small blow ins are really hard to do.

denibbing the base coat is pointless as it tears and scratches so easily. stays sticky for ever unless its a gold or silver. based up some bike parts for a guy to airbrush and he had them 6 weeks and i got them back they where like a yellow gersons tackcloth.

    you learnt any tricks?

the new farecla “extra” is better then the old g3 but it stinks like mr jiff the cleaning product. it also gets the panel really really hot which i dont like.

i personally like juice its australian brand but you can buy it in the states. its a one stop bottle from lambs wool to foam/finishing pad or by hand. works amazing on blacks and its waterbased so it washes off with the hose or a damp microfiber and doesn’t stain plastics and rubbers.

gersons t57 is awesome stuff for a show car but its 99% fillers have u ever washed a car a few times after applying it or had it out in direct sunlight for a day? buff swirls everywhere.

hated 3m polishes there so piss weak and oily.

    cheers for the welcome guys.

90line and onyx are same same. there formulas are 100% identical. just RM doesn’t have manufacture approvals. RM is glasurits 90line as RM had water in the uk over 25yrs ago till it was bought out by basf then glasuirt had 90line to comply with euro voc levels.

i’ve tried thinning the paint a touch more and it seems to help the speed a bit and the coverage and the blending. and cranking the heat up to 35o helps to.

i was more wanting to know how you went about applying it. do you put one 30% coat on flash it 70% coat on flash it 100% coat on flash it then drop coat or do you just smash 2 full coats on with a flash in between then drop coat it?

i smash coats on personally as i find it works better 100% 1st coat, flash, blender applied then 100% coat with blend flick then quick drop coat. flash it off mix my clear up come back in drop coat it again quick flash then clear it.

a trick for 3 layers for you using onyx liberty if you don’t know it already. don’t use the M5(clear pearl binder) use the M50 (colour blender) it drys quicker and you get an even matt finnish instead of matt where you’ve blended and a glossy finish where you’ve put colour.

i like the pps system its simple to use and i hate plastic pots and cups. not keen on double handling the paint as im a mess maker. only time i use plastic cups is making up larger amounts then 650mls. the pps cups wash out really easily to. only wash out the clear and sealer ones. basecoat cups go in the bin they take to long to clean.

I use 3M pps and i wash them out and use them again for primer or inside colour. Once you start paying for them. you soon realise that yes they are quick but there also exspensive. if your shop used 2 boxes every week and you washed them out quickly and used them again for primer you can save thousands a year.

example: our price for 2 box’s is $252 so times that by 50 working weeks = $12,600 now if you washed out just half of the cups and used them 2 or 3 times. it can save you an eye opening amount of money and there not a pain to clean either.
