I would agree with everything Andy just said. Made the changeover in early 2005 and havent looked back since.
February 11, 2014 at 10:56 pm #45905I’ve just bought the devilbiss pro 600 listed above and am extremely happy with it. Very comfortable, great vision with it and very well priced on spraygunsdirect.co.uk. I’m in Ireland and got the mask and an extra 20 peel of visors to my door for 170 euro cheaper from spraygunsdirect.co.uk than anyone in Ireland could do it for. A no brainer in my opinion.
July 18, 2013 at 1:26 am #43663Nice job. I really like the set up you have for painting wheels with the castors on a board, so simple and effective :rock
June 19, 2013 at 8:50 pm #43424If it was me I would rather check for adhesion issues and deal with it now rather than have it come back with an irate customer. If that meant having to remove all paint and re-prime and re-paint so be it.
March 21, 2012 at 12:20 am #36429If ya contact Mo Ryan on vagdrivers he would give ya his number, he is the fella who owns the blue mark2 golf.
March 21, 2012 at 12:13 am #36427Paddy cl on vagdrivers is in Dunboyne, from what I’ve seen he does good work, would be a bit closer to ya.
The colour is called Blackberry, its off the new shape caddy, in low light it just looks like a straight black.
March 21, 2012 at 12:04 am #36425Hi mate. Where in Ireland are you? I might be able to help you out, Im in Waterford. Here is a vento I painted for a friend, he collected it monday.
It needed inner and outer sills on both sides, also fitted a mercedes E300 vent in the front wing. We have a Nova Verta oven/booth installed in the workshop.Sorry about the crap phone pics
And heres an escort RS Turbo I painted early last year, picture was taken yesterdayMarch 11, 2012 at 9:52 pm #36278Our Nova Verta booth was installed in April 1997. Can’t beat yours for age, its still working like new, never given us a moment’s trouble. Had to change the exhaust fan in 2007, other than servicin the burner and changing filters it hasn’t gone wrong.
March 5, 2012 at 3:28 am #36146Are you using an IPA wipedown between polishing steps? If not there could be some of the megs 105 abrasives still
on the paint when you move to the 205. You need to remove all of the 105 before moving on or else you will end up with micro-fine scratches like you are havin problems with. Hope this helps.August 25, 2011 at 12:07 am #32619
HB Body claimed to be the next big thing a few years ago
Tried a few of their products and did not like any of them
I found their wet on wet primer (sealer) to be very gritty
.
My painter had a big prob with their sealer that you are supposed to be able to use over nonsanded o.e. panels, he painted a new tailgate the car came back a month later the bonded rear window had came out. The sealer had let go from the o.e. non sanded primer when they looked at the back of the glass the window bonding material was fully cured and you could clearly see the sealer all the way round, it just had not adhered to the unsanded window aperture .
I would agree with you about their wet on wet primer (sealer) that stuff was awful. Their clearcoats were all labeled scratch resistant to try to get around the new regulations too, ms pretending to be hs 😆
I wouldnt trust any paint companies claims that their primer can be applied over non sanded o.e primer. The few minutes it takes to knock down the primer in preperation for epoxy and 2pk primer is much quicker than havin to strip and redo a job because of failed adhesion 😉
March 30, 2011 at 12:12 am #29910Looks amazing. Looks like the hood and fenders took a bit of work to fit the gaps :clappy
