has nothing to do with greed. If a paint rep wants to give the painter free stuff so be it. But there is no reason for the shop to be giving out free materials to its guys. when the help fuks up and it costs the shop owner money do they reimburse the shop for the lose. No they dont. People that own business and employ others take a big risk every day they open the doors. Evey one has to work together to make the place successful. But if it was thay easy owning your own place you would still be in business for yourself :pcorn:
:agreeAs an employee at a busy shop I don’t expect to be given anything. As a matter of fact the shop doesn’t even need to give me their materials at cost. A standard employee discount is cost + 10%. But my work gives me material for cost and he lets me do side jobs on weekends and evenings and that keeps me a happy employee because I know it’s more then I am entitled to. A lot of places around here the painter won’t even have keys to the shop. By buying the paint for the shops cost you’re still saving a pile of $$. 2 years ago I sprayed my dads 2500 and used about 2000$ in parts and materials, had I not used the shop connection I would have spent double that.

Pretty much sums it up. I’m 5,5 and I learned the hard way to do the roofs of larger pickups separate. I use a step ladder and have to learn on the vehicle to reach the middle of the 3500’s

2. $1700.00 is considered a cheap compressor
I did not want to hear that
I only want to spend about 500$ when I put one in my garage, but on the other hand I won’t really need anything uber fancy so hopefully I’ll be able to stay within budget. I don’t do any work sidework in my garage although I would like to someday

Why you little smartass :stoned
I would if I could though :rofl
I do open them when I paint though so I can backmask to avoid any paintlines and it cuts the dust down big time
I’m not wild about that color either, but you do great work! Very clean
March 30, 2011 at 7:11 am #29925
Looks good…PBJ?
Are you using the 700/750 clears?
Code PBS (now that i think of it, it might also be PBJ, I remember it having like 4 different codes on the cpu)
I sometimes use the 750 for completes but I used DC4010 on this one because I figured the cab was small enough to get away with it. I use that most of the time. It’s a nice clear IMO. The 700/750’s dry painfully slow without a bake cycle even with the accelerator. not to mention the 750 is suppose to be left to dry overnight. Screw that. Overall I didn’t like those clears appearance unless you reduce them 10%. If you spray them per the tech sheet they look thick and nasty.
March 30, 2011 at 6:52 am #29923Thanks everyone!
@Ben, I sprayed it in EHP, I don’t like the color itself but it suits the truck very nicely!
@Ryan I like getting it all out of the way but on on the downside the bottoms of the jambs are speckly from climbing in and out. Luckily a solid color like this should buff up no problem. I did the doors and cowl today and they came out even nicer! So if I nail the fenders and hood tomorrow it’ll be a home run! Here’s some pics of the roof I did earlier today, pain in the ass when you’re only 5ft5

No offense…but if you have to ask that, then this repair may not be for you. Rust repairs done improperly will not fix the issue, and in some cases will only make it worse (opening it up and making it more susceptible to more issue).
:agreeMy thoughts exactly

March 13, 2011 at 5:18 am #29483Nice video jack. Makes me anxious for summer. Erin’s parents live in a lakeside community they’re one of about 3 or 4 families that live there year round. They have their boat docked in their back yard
