May 14, 2014 at 3:45 am #46638except I’m pretty sure in Europe, they are mandated to have a slight negative pressure :p
May 8, 2014 at 6:09 pm #46589The NCS sealers are the iso -free sealers. Never have used them, but I never liked the NCS primer. That coud be your issue. Any reason you are using that sealer instead of the DAS sealers?
April 27, 2014 at 11:26 pm #46486LKQ is Huge in North America. They started out as a large group of salvage yards. then they stared buying aftermarket parts companies (keystone, etc) thats when they started getting inot paint distribution as Keystone was selling paint products. Then they purchased the Akzo stores. They just recently expended over into Europe.
April 25, 2014 at 6:53 pm #46450The matrix AG40 is a nice clear for the money. It tacks up pretty quick even with slow hardener, but you could still do a small complete with it if you needed to. I’ve also been impressed with keytones Key Kwick. That would be best for a 1-2 panel job. drys fast and has a nice shine. I’ve abused it in my booth with no bad repercussions yet. The keystone will run you in the low $20’s per sprayable qt. the Matrix will be pushing closer to $30 RTS qt.

March 13, 2014 at 9:20 pm #46085You wont find too many people here that sugar coat things. Professional quality and hobby quality are 2 different things. To a professional, hobby quality is junk. Just the way it is. Probably wont find too many of us that care what eastwood or Kirker think about our opinions either.
March 12, 2014 at 10:16 pm #46077
We are a sherwill shop but we always keep some 250 on hand for jobs that need to go the same day they are painted, I think it pretty great for bumpers, we accelerate the clear so within 2 hours it’s hard as a rock, and if there’s any imperfections they can be polishing out very soon after. That’s about all we use this clear for
If you are a sure will shop how come you dont use the HPC clears for stuff like that ?February 28, 2014 at 9:33 pm #46003
Looks great ding. The owner did a nice job picking the colours and pattern.
What paint did you use?
I really thought the thing would look better with some old school scallops. He found a design on a more rounded plane and did some photo shopping. He had another painter lined up and that guy did the wings. After he got the wings back he realized the guy wasnt qualified…….. Unfortunately the other painter chose all the supplies. He had DBU with aftermarket reducer and matrix basecoat activator, some korean clear coat I never heard of and transtar epoxy. Well needless to say we didnt use all his products. We kept the base and got the proper DRR reducer. used Utech epoxy on it. One of my friends is a rep for a wholesale distributor that deals with SEM and they just came out with a clear that has anti sag technology. He was up a few weeks ago using my booth to spray it on some test panels before he sold it. It held out pretty nice and you could pound it on. So we went with that in an effort to avoid a disaster with all the rivets on the thing. It all worked out pretty well. we did end up giving it a quick skate and polish just because DBU goes on like corn on the cob…..
February 4, 2014 at 8:37 pm #45844I think the fact that it’s been there 4 times already answers the question about their competence level. My question to you is, Does the insurance company own the car? If the answer is no, then how can they tell you where the car is going to be fixed. they owe for the damages, period. It’s your car, you can do what ever you want with it.
