Cost wise the Sata and the 3M are about the same. the New nortons were only slightly less expensive. never really checked out the devilbiss ones
December 16, 2013 at 5:23 am #45682Not a fan of the new norton ones. Good idea poor execution. The design of the adapters and the length of the spout going to the gun restricts the flow of paint and when you get down to about 1/4 or 1/3 full, you don’t get enough paint flowing. Been using the sata rps cups and besides forgetting to open or close the vent at the appropriate times, they haven’t given any issue. I still do use the 3m pps when spraying odd stuff that requires the gun being upside down.
December 3, 2013 at 2:33 am #45612Not trying to be a smart ass or anything, but this is what I gather about axalta from the people that like it:
1. It’s expensive
2. Not user friendly
3. Takes a long time to learn the system
4. Find color variants can be challenging
5. Base coat repair are difficult
6. needs at least a 15 minute bake to dry the stuffSo other than basecoat application time can someone explain the upside of using this product. Also speaking of time savings, what about total time from sealer to clear? how does this product perform. I’ve demoed PPG and Sikkens water and a 3-5 minute flash between coats is all it takes, so really hogging on 1.5 coats and having to bake the stuff doesnt seem like a large time savings but it does sound like it’ll cost more having to run 2 bake cycles for each job. How does the base perform when you encounter those colors that takes more than the 1.5 coats to cover? How about tricoats?
December 1, 2013 at 6:07 pm #45594I’m not but a period or comma every now and then makes reading easier its like a big jumbled mess otherwise and you never know when a new thought starts but maybe there really arent any new thoughts up there and it’s like a tornado of words just swirling around up there and how ever they come out is what it is do you know what I am saying here :cheers :p

Holy Crap!!!!! Use some punctuation :pNovember 29, 2013 at 7:53 am #455554-5 Times ? What are you comparing to… Chromabase?
Around here the tech reps can’t even make it perform like their sales pitch. Gonna have a hard time convincing me to use a product that takes 2 months to get used to and finding the right variant takes a degree from Scotland Yard .
Once the color is hogged on in your coat and half, how long does it take to flash before you can clear.November 28, 2013 at 6:11 am #45543
I may have solved it on my end by changing my DNS servers. Seems to be working fine now.
:blush:November 26, 2013 at 7:07 am #45520Welcome to the site Jerry. Lots of good guys here with years of experience. We’re down to earth and not afraid to tell it like it is. It’s not all the doom and gloom of some of those other sites.
November 26, 2013 at 7:02 am #45519mixing up a few ounces of 2k doesnt cost that much and i will be a better repair in the long run. blow some primer on and by the time you are done masking it will be ready to scuff up.
November 18, 2013 at 2:37 am #45465
I was also wondering if I am waiting long enough after clearing before I turn the bake on ? cause that’s a lot of moving air when that kicks in .
Are the jobs clean before you start the bake cycle? Have you ever let on air dry to see how it turns out
