Price the job at whatever its worth to you. If you can do it at $4000 and take satisfaction in the money/hr your making then go for it. I think you should definitely bump it up a little but I can’t see anyone dumping 8 or 9 g’s into a 95 suburban. I’d try for at least $6000. If you have other work coming in then tell him 8 or 9 and if he goes for it great, if not no worries. We’ve done fleet work, like those cop car color changes for $1500-$2000 & still made some money doing them, not a pile but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do to keep the doors open.

What’s the body like on this thing anyhow?

Funny story on the last suburban I priced. Guy wanted a complete and I looked it over and said you’d probably be looking somewhere between 5-6. He got real excited and said alright when can you do it? I don’t even mind paying the high end, 6 hundred is a good deal! After an awkward pause I informed him we weren’t talking in the hundreds, I never ended up closing that deal.
5-6 hundred :exci :exci :exci :exci :wak :wak :rofl :lol1 :lol1 :lol1

Just me but no way I would do it for 4k… 6k ok, 5k and he buys all the materials. final offer!
Heck your gonna need two gals of every thing!!!! Not to mention the amount of tape and Sandpaper.

If he gets it in 150 he’s kicking some serious butt!
still $3000 job 150 hours = $20 bucks an hour not bad but he has materials coming out of that too, Materials that have to be replaced so wages come down even more.

6 grand min see what he does then 6k is a screaming deal for that job
Your talking about a lot of work jambs too your crazy cheap 4k wear were you before I built my booth?
What about body work?

Don’t forget about all the interior parts that have to be painted as well :S

I don’t use Norton but do use McAfee have for years never had a Virus yet it has blocked a bunch though.

I hate Hackers! Why they don’t charge them with Federal Terrorisim charges is beyond me.
When they are caught they should be permanently banned from using the Internet forever! and prevented from having a PC in there home forever and if ever caught on a friends PC or family members PC put back in prison for another 10 years if not indefinitely

You do it for one you do it for all other wise your being racist and there’s no room for that in buisness.

If they could prove it you could have a lawsuit on your hands

Don’t forget local car clubs most consider my area a retirement community these guy’s have money to spend on there cars and they like here cars! Cant wait till I can get some of my own stuff done and down to some of these shows and show off what I can do maybe I can drum up a few paint jobs.

I don’t like dealing with the kids either I have a bunch of my kids friends wanting paint jobs now, But none have any money but these older guy’s have been around the block a few times and relize how things are.

I would charge especially if you think they arnt going to fix it and just pocket the cash from the insurance company, Why should you work for free? like it was said then if they have the work done there you reverse the charge and apply it towards he deductible or the final bill. Just makes good business sense.

Chasses away tire kickers which Free’s up your time to run your shop.
Well done, will be hard to detect the repairs. This should be good word of mouth advertising for your shop, because these volkswagon people run in packs ya know, kinda like the pricks that drive corvettes.;)
Progress has been slow around here last two weeks between going back to work full time and honey do’s and Moms wanting this or that.(For those that don’t know my wife and I care for my Ailing mother who’s had a bad Stroke.) With going back too work that will slow down my body work for a while.

Tinkered with the kids car a bit today
While I didn’t take very good before pictures not only did I have to remove the headlight bucket I also had to drill apart the inner structure of the fender behind the headlight bucket so it could be repaired as well there was no other way to get behind it. after words I just welded up the spot weld cutter holes back to the piece, and ground the welds down.

Here is what the fender started out like, Like the Roof I really wanted a new Fender but these things are long gone out of the wreaking yards around here. And I am not paying more for shipping than the part costs to buy from the other side of the country.

I always planned on doing Restoration work and Rust is part of it. :S But if this was my car I would have scraped it :exci The owner came over the other day all he could say is I had no idea  gee what did you think? :wak
I told him repeatedly it wasn’t even a good parts car as there weren’t any panels on it that were good for parts!

Oh well It’s out of the shop for a while waiting for some blasting, If he had the cash I would say send it to Vegas and get it done, be done in less than a day.

By the way next time I start a project of this size for some one I am pulling a credit reference, And having them leave a Visa card on file.

This guy told me the other day he was going to put my name on the title and sell the car when it was done to pay me, I told him no way as I will own the car 30-60 days after its done if you fail to pay the bill.
He didn’t like that
Dam car wont be worth the paint I put on it let alone all the labor.
