Most of the time we just wipe with Tack rag but we do blow stuff off as well.

Wipe whole car down with Tack cloth then wipe again just before I shoot and its still leaving crud behind.

I was kinda wondering if maybee my W/G remover was biting into substrate causing fibers to embed themselves in substrate.
SPI waterborn and Regular chemical I have both and use both I use either one depending on the job. (just one of my wonderings)
Doesnt seam to be the case though because Im found fibers left behind on Bare steal as well.

Im going to try a Different hand wipe for final wipe downs If I can find any at my Vegas Jobber Today.

Heck Im talking about after wiping down with Wax and grease remover before any painting

The Paper towels Im buying and useing are supposed to be lint free But there Not. Thats were I belive my problems are coming from.
My Tack rags (Crystal I believe) are leaving some lint behind mind you its hard to see with my Old eyes but I can see it when I look close.

I thought a Lot of my problem was being caused by my booth But not now.

I need to find a Better Towel for final wipe downs maybee?

Hi Melissa
Im have a Semi cross draft booth and am currently shopping for new Intake filters
My booth Intake filters just lie flat on the roof on the intake side.
Im currently running a heavy down draft style internal frame type design filter with Blankets type filters running across the top of those.

Current plans are to engineer Intake too a real Intake box with Pre filters thru my regular filters too try and stop my Dust problems.

If you know of any good filters to try I would be very interested

I agree!
Some one has repainted that car before maybe three times who knows definitely a lot of body work coming up. Theres going to be some rust repair thats for sure.
looks like some Okies been working on it
**************************************************************************************************

If you have the TIME and Patience you can do this job yourself, You will be money ahead IF your going to do it Your self.
But you need to commit to doing more than one though other wise its going to be a waste of money too invest in all the tools
It sounds like your a Hot Rodding type of guy that can probably do some engine work and you’ve already took a class on body work you said so Belly up get yourself some tools and dig in!

Biggest problem I see is the rust coming up from under the Bondo seam fillers gone bad and the old Paint itself.
Theres going to be some rust issues under some of that Bondo AND your in the Rust belt so your going to need a mig welder get a small Miller there the easiest to use I think.
Then get the Biggest Baddest air compressor you can afford.
The rest is easy stuff a couple sanders a bunch of sand paper a Good spray gun some body tools such as hammers Dolley’s etc… Lots of good sanding blocks.

Sounds easy doesnt it?

I got into this stuff to save myself some money on a few paint jobs myself
All I have done since starting is SPEND money and every spare moment I have in the shop! now for the last 3 years!
Getting Harassed by everyone in the neighborhood wanting a cheap paint job :chair

Its a great hobby if you love working with your hands
Its a great hobby if you love playing with cars
Its a great hobby if you like making a mess
Its a great hobby if you like to piss off your neibors
Its a great hobby if you want to paint all your friends cars and make a buck or two
Its a great hobby if you dont want too spend time with your wife girlfriends or kids, unless you get them involved some like it.

Other wise expect to pay 5-8K even around there for a GOOD paint job even in Kansas might get some one to do it a bit cheaper in OK but you get what you pay for.
Everything said is right on.. I think we are heading for another great depression..I personally think 2011 will be a horrible year for most business..
Too many people believe what they see and here from that great Propaganda tool the government has………..TV

People have been deliberately dumbed down for sooo long with the current American education system they only believe whats on TV.
Do your self and your family and your nation a favor and chuck the thing out! And get involved with your state government at ANY level! :cheers

“The fact is that ever since Ronald Reagan began his war on the middle class, union representation has greatly diminished, and along with it the average wages of most Americans. And to answer the inevitable charge that union wages have driven jobs overseas, keep in mind that Germany, only recently displaced as the number one exporting country by China (with its 1.3 billion population and sweatshop labor), has high-paying unionized jobs with benefits that make those of our unions look stingy by comparison. It used to be that decent health care, vacation time and retirement benefits were considered a basic right of working Americans; they still are in the other industrialized democracies (which also have universal healthcare and less concentration of wealth). It is very strange that, instead of recognizing that the benefits of state workers should be considered our standard, people consider these benefits “entitlements.” ”

Ted Daum

sorry Go ahead with your Union bashing sorry for the :hij:

Wanna fix America

BAN ALL IMPORTS! OR DEMAND Balanced Trade!

If a country wont balance trade TAX all there imports accordingly 10000%
Americans would be back to work almost overnight and then this country would be a great Nation again!

January 6, 2011 at 10:24 pm #26870

It wont be long now any ways

BUT soon very soon When there’s no food on the shelves at your local store for you to buy maybe then people will wake the heck up too whats really going on in Washington DC with there One world government BS
Its not about How Pensions are bankrupting us or how Medicare is bankrupting us or how Social security is Bankrupting us or the Banks imploded the housing markets.
IT’s all about Washington Senators steeling Americans of there RIGHTS FREEDOMS and wealth as a Nation!

ITS THAT THERE ARE NO GOOD USA JOBS LEFT that pay enough to make a living wage they are being farmed out over seas!
NO Jobs no wages no wages no ones paying Taxes no one pays Taxes the country goes BANKRUPT!

When the World Bank Pulls the US dollar from being the World Standard wich is likely to happen any day now.
Because the fed keeps printing money willy Nelly with nothing to back it up Interest rates are at lending rates soo low banks cant make money on it.
When Bankers cant make money they move on and when they move on look for Wild CRAZY inflation like the world ain’t seen in a long time.
Truth is US Government has been staving off inflation for years trying too keep the market down devaluing the dollar for 20 years to drive us to a ONE WORLD ECONOMY!

Personally I think we as Americans deserve better
OUR Fore fathers deserve better legacy
The Men and Women that have fought and died for this country deserve better

Go ahead Keep BELIVING every thing you see on that dam TV and reading in your Paper
Why bother reading a History book
Why bother thinking for yourself when the government tells you what to think who to blame and what too say and how too say it.

The Greatest UNION in the world WAS the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

YEP Unions are the problem :chair

January 6, 2011 at 9:58 pm #26869

Unions DONT dictate to MGMT. how to run a company
Unions only enforce CONTRACTS that companeys and unions agree too

If Ford or any other MFG wanted to change the way they do buisness they just do it!

The Truth is are Sovereignty as a country of free men was sold out to BIG buisness years ago!
Its cheaper for big buisness to build overseas and ship in than it is too pay Americans a living wage!

Think about it MOST all the guys here work at body shops OR Own a body shop 98% or more of there work is Insurance jobs.
Why well thats who can afford to pay not joe blow up the street driving the dented up, paint fading 6-10 years old car or truck.
Its not that he doesnt feel its worth painting he just cant afford to pay a big body shop to do it!

The truth is IF people didnt have full coverage insurance on there cars 90+% of you guys would be out of work.

As long as we as a country continue too allow Big corporations to continue too ship our jobs out over seas a good job very well may be working at Walmart selling Chines JUNK!

Big corporations are allowed to take work over seas build it and then bring it back into the country without paying import taxes
As far as I am concerned any corporation that leaves to build outside the country with cheap labor no longer holds its ties to American soil.

As far as I am concerned All imports no matter the product should be taxed at 100% street value!
When coming into the country at the docks and then again when sold to the public! all proceeds of wich paid to US government.
Maybe then we can pay down the Deficit

Did you know that as a US Tax payer you are currently in dept. to this country too the tune of $127,000 WHY? ask your senator!
Check it out http://www.usdebtclock.org/
Its time for people to wake the heck up and stop blaming unions for every thing and start holding CONGRESS responsible for allowing the whole mess in the first place!

UNIONS are responsible for
Unemployment insurance
Workers comp
40 hour work week
Pensions
Child labor laws
protections against discrimination
unlawful termination
overtime
sick days
The List goes on and on!

“Only a fool would try to deprive workingmen and workingwomen of the right to join the union of their choice.” Dwight D. Eisenhower

If a man tells you he loves America, yet hates labor, he is a liar!” Abraham Lincoln

“I consider it important, indeed urgently necessary, for intellectual workers to get together, both to protect their own economic status and, also generally speaking, to secure their influence in the political field.” Albert Einstein (commenting on why he joined the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO)

“The American Labor Movement has consistently demonstrated its devotion to the public interest. It is, and has been, good for all America.” John F. Kennedy

“If I went to work in a factory, the first thing I’d do would be to join a union.” Franklin D. Roosevelt

“We need unions to make sure that working people have a legitimate and consistent voice.” Senator Orrin Hatch, R. Utah, quoted in Business Week magazine, May 9, 1994

YIKES!
Just me BUT Too much!
Putting that much material on any thing is bad.

Your original complaint about your jobs was Probably just what they call Urethane wave wich is the Clear not being Blocked flat.
Think about it you Block with a Hard block for all your filler work It just makes sense that the Clear should be Blocked with a Hard block as well doesnt it?
Those soft Sponges are great for Wet sanding clear but they dont make anything flat will they?

Also Like some one else said Use light pressure when blocking and sharp fresh paper
