Mr. Kowal sounds like a bit of a baby to me :rofl
How else are apprentices suppose to learn? The whole point of an apprenticeship is hands on experience. He’s talking like he never forgot to put a bolt in a bumper in his whole life. If the journeyman did every job from start to finish the apprentices wouldn’t learn anything. It’s a responsibility as a journeyman to watch over your apprentice as he’s learning. I’m not saying micro manage the poor bastard but when he’s done a job, check to make sure he doesn’t have any parts left and its put together properly, takes one minute. The apprentice is responsible for getting the job put together and the journeyman is responsible for the apprentice. If this guy had his way not only would we run out of journeyman one day, we’d run out of apprentices too! :wak
It’s not rocket appliances! :rofl
I don’t blame the poor fella, looks pretty busy enjoyin that coffee while his 14$ apprentice is off puttin bumpers and door handles together :pcorn:
Did you have a lot of questions where “all the answers were right and you had to pick the best one” I remember my inter-provincial exam having the dumbest questions. The one that pissed me off the most i’ll never forget.
What is the best tool to fill a pinhole in your bodywork
a razorblade
a steel putty knife
a plastic putty knife
a plastic razor bladeREALLY???!!
I ended up not getting 1 percent below pass mark on the red seal .
so long story short, i’m only a registered journeyman in Alberta. I got like 80% or something on the provincial exam. :roflIf i ever find the motherf*cker that wrote that :hunt
I use PPG EHP and the color matching is hit and miss, with it being a good match more often then not. I really don’t trust the variant cards I have though because they are sprayed on paper and it’s f***ed me over a few times in the translation to a steel or plastic substrate
Unless the bumper is raw plastic (most I come in contact with aren’t) I wouldn’t worry to much. I’ve done some Toyota ones that were but I don’t recall whether they are OEM or not, Unless you really cheaped out on the bumper I wouldn’t worry about it to much. You can do the hot soap and water wash if your paranoid.
When I went to school we were taught to really watch out for it. It’s definitely not a new phenomenon. We were taught to bake them really well and wash them with soap and water as hot as we could stand to sweat the agents out of the plastic. I’ve personally never had a problem with bumpers which leads me to believe that most companies are taking steps at the factory to get rid the contamination from these agents. But they really drilled it into our heads every year at tech school that you have to get them out of there. I imagine the cheaper aftermarket companies would be the worst. But thats my own speculation
