Thank you for the info.
I am not really worried about the cost of the paint it was just one I was looking at. It is not that cost doesn’t matter either but I would pay more for a good paint that would look good and be as easy as it can be to shoot. So I would not mind hearing other brands that you think might fill the bill.
Thanks
EBSeptember 25, 2012 at 9:28 pm #38378Thanks,
I have never shot Silver but I have shot Lemans Blue Metalic and it came out great. Is it much harder than that?
I also don’t have an expensive gun but it worked great on the last paint job I did so hope it is good enough for this.
I would use their system if I use them.
Would you suggest another mfg. for silver other than HOK.
Thanks

[/quote]I agree, and I do all of that. I was just wondering about the chance of an explosion with a regular box fan. I have searched for other homemade booths and it seems that is not a problem I guess.
ThanksSeptember 19, 2012 at 5:26 am #38329Could you expand on what exactly happens to the gun pressure. Does it drop so far it does not spray, does it fluctuate? I bought one of these and am getting ready to paint my car and don’t want to find out in the middle of this.
September 16, 2012 at 12:14 am #38307I have built a black pipe loop at the compressor that is about 14 feet long and then I have those water traps balls on my guns. Do I need more than that?
September 15, 2012 at 11:17 pm #38304Okay, follow up question. I have looked at HF and on line on Ebay and there are lots of $25-$40 regulator/filter combos. I read some of the reviews and it looks like they are throw away type product, junk in other words. So for short time use for painting this car, probably the last car I will paint, What is a good, non-expensive regulator that you guy are using? Are the ones at HF Okay? I read the one from Sears for $100 was junk. So how much does price matter on whether or not is is a good product when it comes to the regulator.

I do have picture, lots of them. I have never tried to post them on this site. Is it hard to do? A couple of my other car sites are above my pay grade when it comes to posting pics!! :woohoo:
August 26, 2012 at 2:51 am #38061First thing is to get rid of the spray can primer I would have to strip the car down, which I don’t want to do. I should have also said that I have spray Quik Sand on the car and blocked it twice so most if not all spray bomb paint is buried under the Quik Sand.
I live in a large city in Texas so I can get any paint on the market, so what Primer would you use now with this new information.
I have not had any problems with the spray bomb primer so far because I only used lacquer based primer in a can. No enamel or epoxy spray bomb primer.
I was wondering if I would have to sand with something finer. Why does the silver need 600, just want to know not doubting you.

I am not set on SATA, it just seemed like there were a lot of used ones on the net so I started looking at those. I am just looking for a good gun that will spray the Palladium Silver in a good even wide fan. I watched a video on here that was someone painting a Camaro with Candy Green.
The fan and coverage that that gun was putting down was perfect. I don’t think my Vapor HVLP can spray that good. I used it once a few years ago and it worked great for the Lemans Blue I sprayed. This car I will be shooting will be the last car I am going to build making it the last car I will paint.
I may still paint smaller projects like a golf cart but nothing like a complete car again, getting too old for this!!I will look at the other guns you mentioned.
Thanks
