Havent been up to date because of the new job. Staying late to catch up with the new pace of the shop and get the rhythm. I can say four days into the job and say the Diamont isnt bad at all, very easy to shoot once you get the pace of it. I had no issues with it at all, the color matching is way better than Dupont, just a different steps.. still using the 1.3 sata but will change it once i get really comfortable with everything.

yea i thought it was because i put the base on too wet and then didnt let it flash..the temp in the booth was set to 78.. mayb it had to do with many things i was doing. like i said it was my first time spraying this system. Tomorrow there will be more time for me to work with it. I will use the tips everyone has said.. medium coats and let the base flash. too much material could have been an issue why it lifted.

Well i used UR50 reducer, my first coat was a medium coat, i think i didnt let it flash enough but i think i just put my coats on too wet, my motion was to slow for the pressure i was sparaying at 29psi..so i guess my second coat was too wet and it looked like it lifted, looked like blushing. it was my first time and it was a small piece so i corrected it before i went on to my mid coat.. my coats where to wet and heavy..thats was my problem. and no i havent used any basecoat hardner. do you recommend a 1.4 tip gun just because its so thick..

Yes its a big difference, the product seems to cover great, and yes I found out that you cant rush it and cant put it on wet.. I could spray dupont with a medium wet coat and let it flash and repeat my step and it wouldnt give me an issue.. the problem they have is that dupont color match isnt great. I was using 1.3 sata so i will change to 1.4. Im sure that i will adapt quicly to the system, just gotta be patient with the coats..

yea i we did a ford explorer today, its a white pearl and i sprayed the plastic piece that goes on the tail gate. The color ships wasnt bad at all, they didnt have many options so it made it easy for me. the plastic came primed already so it coverd with three coats.. first coat was easy but i learned quickly that you cant go with heavy coats, medium coats at a quick pase is going to have to be my formation. very different from what i was usto. the good thing so far is that it covers very well, just gotta be patient in between coats and do 3 medium coats..

Thanks.. Yea I had never heard of it untill today, I guess its been around for a while. So i guess medium coats will be a good start for me. I was told that you dont want to rush the flash time between coats becuase it will give you issues. I will give it 3 mins between coats i guess. I am using a a sata jet 2000 with a 1.3 tip, sold my sata 2000 1.4 tip, but planning on get two new guns. I will be giving the sata 4000 1.4 a shot. I know that we where reducing it with UR50, didnt really read much into the reducers but i will take that into notice as we will be painting a silver Gm that will require blending on the rear door and front fender.

Went today to the shop just to get a feel of the shop. I will be using diamont. The mixing paint nt wasnt much different from any other other system. What I did notice was that its a 2 to 1 mix, so its a thicker base, a lot different from Dupont. Seems like it covers good but you cant really shoot with 29 psi and give a medium coat. The guy did three coats at a fast pace, basically all the coats were dry coats and it covered very well. My fist day will really be on monday, so if there is any tips that can help with the base will be great. I want to get the base down first then worry about the clear. thaanks
