    Hi, You could always scotchbrite the entire area and use a clear laquer with a red tint but make sure you add more than usual to allow the red to show through.

    If its flake you want then its a different process and back to square one again.

    Hi, If your problem is anything remotely like the picture well then yes it is either/or contamination or solvent boil like the other members had suggested.
    I have come across this loads and by what you are describing it sounds like contamination from the previous clear which was not fully removed.
    Its a pain in the neck sometimes but just take your time and never rush any jobs and like anything, the better preperation you put into a job, the better finish you will get.
