I have been using it for a few weeks now. No more hair dryers for me! This base lays down great and has cured the seediness problems I had with WB Onyx and even Diamont to some extent. Some blends have been a challenge and some formulas tend to blotch on the hoods, but, I received a new slow reducer today that is supposed to cure these problems. We will see.
Have you sprayed any solid colors yet?
How are you doing blends?
Any coverage issues because of it being so thin?
I hear colors are running a little lighter because they are drying too quick and the metallic doesn’t have time to do its thing.
How do the cheap Chinese copy of body parts and headlights fit?
Use a Devilbiss Startingline or Finishline for a cheap gun that sprays decent.
Did they give you a reason why they cant mix it like that?
I have no experience with mixing spray cans so I have no idea what is involved.
Use it all the time on bare plastic. It is a very good product. Haven’t had any failures that we know of. Make sure you use the super cleaner with it and you shouldn’t have any problems.
What products are you spraying over the top of it?
AM960 is a spray can blender in the R-M line.
I would think other paint lines have something similar.
I believe hardner in the base helps with adhesion also.
I have been spraying Onyx waterborne for 4 years and have not noticed any adhesion or creeping problems.
So far.
Hope the new shop continues to work out for you.
Besides air flow and heat, have the PPG rep check the humidity in the air lines.
The air needs to be very dry and clean. Much more so than with solvent.
You would have more control with the lifter.
Depending on the width of the crease, the legs of the lifter may not open wide enough .
“2 stage color worked out just fine in this case. ”
Love it when that happens.
Thanks for the input.
I think I will give it a try, atleast for some small stuff.
I havent had the pleasure of spraying it yet.
From I understand, the base is very transparent. The cars from the factory, aren’t really covered.
Let us know how it goes.
Lemon Pledge furniture polish does the same thing.
Looks mint until it is washed.
